Podiatry specialises in the diagnosis and management of foot disorders and injuries associated with foot and lower limb function. Podiatrists also deal with rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limb. Podiatrists treat all aspects of foot pain, joint disorters, soft tissue pathologies, as well as neurological and circulatory problems. Podiatry is the treatment of foot, ankle, leg and knee injuries by altering lower limb function using a variety of methods, including insoles, footwear and exercises. A podiatrist will analyse the way an individuals foot strikes the ground and evaluate the chain of motion of the major joints in the leg from the ground up. By analysing the way that you walk and run the podiatrist will evaluate whether or not there are any mechanical reasons that may be contributing to your injury. Our podiatrists can provide assessment and treatment for a wide range of lower limb injuries including;
Knee pain
Shin pain
Ankle pain
Foot pain
ITB Friction Syndrome
Stress fractures
Achilles Tendinopathy
Plantar Fasciitis
They can also provide you with up-to-date footwear advice, analysis of your gait (the way you walk) and prescribe orthotics. General nail and skin treatment, as well as nail surgery is also provided by the podiatrists in this clinic. You do not require a referral to see a podiatrist at CBSMC (unless it is a TAC, Workcover or DVA claim.). Our podiatrists are all members of the Australian Podiatry Association.
