This Easter reminds us that hope doesn't always come with certainty or clear answers. In health care especially, it is rarely loud or dramatic. Instead, hope reveals itself in the moments that truly matter. May you find time this Easter to pause, reflect, and recognise the small yet meaningful signs of hope around you.

Today we observe Good Friday, a day of deep significance in the Christian calendar. For St John of God Health Care, it is a meaningful reminder of our calling to continue the healing mission of Jesus. As we take time to reflect, may we recognise the opportunities in every moment to bring healing and hope to those in our care and to one another.

❤️ Fun Health Fact – Heart & Lungs Edition

Your heart and lungs work so closely together that your heart pumps blood to your lungs every single beat, sending it off to collect oxygen before delivering it to the rest of your body.

That partnership happens around 100,000 times a day.

When something affects your heart, lungs or chest, it can impact your whole body, from energy levels to breathing to overall wellbeing.

If you’re experiencing ongoing chest pain, shortness of breath, or have been diagnosed with a heart or lung condition, early specialist advice matters.

Speak with your GP about a referral or contact SJG Geelong to connect with a cardiothoracic specialist.

Health Facts: What is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases that damage the optic nerve, most commonly associated with high pressure within the eye. A certain level of pressure is needed for the eye to keep its shape, however, if this pressure gets too high it can cause stress to the optic nerve, leading to damage.

What signs and symptoms are there?

The early stages of glaucoma have no symptoms and significant vision can be lost before you experience any signs of glaucoma. Glaucoma affects your peripheral vision, which is why you may not notice any changes in your vision in the early stages. Some people may notice their vision becoming blurry or misty, coloured rings around white lights and eye discomfort. If any of these symptoms are experienced, it is advised to seek medical advice immediately.

Regular eye checks can help you look after your eyes, if you need additional help with your vision, you can request a referral from your optometrist or your GP.
