School referrals are now open. 🧡

Schools across Geelong, the Surf Coast, and the Bellarine Peninsula can now refer students to Lumi Counselling and be among the first to access Lumi when doors open.
If there’s a young person who could benefit from a safe space to talk, process what they’re feeling, and build healthy tools moving forward, referrals are now being accepted.

Places will be limited in the early stages.

Working alongside schools has always been close to the heart of Lumi. When families, schools, and the right support come together around a young person, incredible things can happen.

Not advice.
Not fixing.
Not lectures.

I’ve officially found the home for Lumi Counselling.

Finding the right space mattered deeply to me. I wanted somewhere that truly reflects the heart of Lumi. A warm, calm and welcoming place where kids, teens and families feel safe the moment they walk through the door.

That home will be 337 Ryrie Street, right in the heart of Geelong.

I’m now offering the first appointments through the Early Access waitlist for the week beginning May 25.

Not later. Not once they’ve matured. Not once they meet expectations.
Now.

In the middle of the big emotions, the shutdowns, the self doubt, and the quiet courage it takes just to show up.

I chose to work with kids and teens because when a young person feels safe and truly seen, something shifts. Shame begins to loosen. Confidence starts to grow. Light finds its way in.
And when light gets in early, everything changes. 🧡

🧡 Parent Quick Tip

When anxiety shows up, get curious before you get convincing.

It’s so natural to jump in with reassurance. “You’ll be fine.” “That won’t happen.” But anxiety isn’t usually asking for facts. It’s asking for safety.

Try gently saying: “That sounds like your worry voice. What is it trying to protect you from?”

When we treat anxiety like a part of the story, not the whole story, kids begin to see that it’s something they can talk to, question, and work with. Not something that runs the show.

😪 Parenting can mess with your head. You see them struggling and everything in you wants to jump in, email the teacher, call the coach, fix the friendship drama, because you love them.

But sometimes what feels loving in the moment quietly steals the growth they actually need. Resilience is built in the awkward conversations, confidence grows when they realise, I handled that.

Stay close, be steady, don’t take over. You’re not raising a comfortable child, you’re raising a capable one. 🧡
