Change one thing — others respond.

Shift breathing → muscle tone changes.
Reduce stress load → posture adapts.
Improve movement → tension redistributes.

The body is constantly recalibrating.

Bowen Therapy aims to engage the whole network.

Bowen Therapy is about gently encouraging the body to relax and heal through manual manipulation. It helps with injury recovery, tight muscles, headaches/migraines, and internal issues (e.g. reproductive issues, intestinal issues, kidneys, heart, etc).

Why don't you just keep doing Bowen moves like a massage? Here's a good explanation.

In Bowen Therapy, the pauses aren’t a break — they’re a technique.

Between each set of moves, practitioners step away to give the body time to notice, integrate, and respond to the gentle input it’s been given.

These pauses allow the nervous system to process new information without overwhelm, and this is one of the key differences between Bowen and other hands-on therapies.

It’s subtle, it’s intentional, and students quickly learn that the magic may happen in the quiet moments.

Curious about how Bowen works — or what it’s like to learn it?

You’re in the right place. 💚

"Wow! It's so much easier to breath and look at my oxygen levels!" Mum exclaimed from her hospital bed as she recovered from a knee replacement.
Now normally I don't do Bowen Therapy until six week post-op, but the nurses were concerned her oxygen levels were below 94 on day two. Mum was sitting at 92 or 95 with oxygen support. After a few gentle Bowen moves for her diaphragm we watched the monitor climb to 98!

I can’t believe it – no asthma today! 🚴‍♀️💨
While riding uphill, I suddenly realised I haven’t had asthma for weeks… unheard of!

To be clear, I only have mild, exercise-induced asthma, but usually, as soon as I start puffing, it shows up. The only thing I’ve changed? I’ve been doing a few Bowen Therapy moves most nights to relax my diaphragm – not even for asthma, just to help me unwind and sleep better.

And here’s the best part: you can learn it too!
Book in for two 1-hour sessions with me, and at your second session I’ll teach you this simple technique so you can use it at home. It’s a total game changer. 🙌

MEDIA RELEASE
Jo Cordell-Cooper – finalist in National Awards PT of the Year (for the 3rd time)
Hobart based holistic personal trainer vies for the title of title of Australian Personal Trainer of the year, for the third time. Having won Tasmanian Personal Trainer of the Year twice already, could this be a case of third time lucky?

“I am honoured to be recognised by our industry peak body AusActive for achieving excellence once again. What I’d really like to do is showcase the benefits of nature based exercise on all aspects of health, but especially mental health” says Jo who has focused on hiking fitness as the driver for addressing lifestyle stress. Jo offers beginners hiking sessions as well as half day and multiday hikes. She is about to take 9 Tasmanian women to the 6 day Jatbula Trail near Katherine, while last year they tackled the best of the Larapinta Trail in Central Australia. Next year she hopes to take a group to Kangaroo Island for a 6 day hike.
“Hiking gives people a real goal to work towards, while connecting with like minded people and reaping the physical, mental and social benefits of hiking”. Additionally, Jo is well known for working with quite complex clients such as those dealing with cancer or its aftermath, neuro-degenerative conditions, and other auto-immune conditions. “At the end of the day, exercise is medicine and improves your lot in so many ways. It is important though to be trained in these areas, but also to communicate with the medical profession and allied health professionals. I think these skills have put me in good stead for this award”.

Award winners will be announced in Sydney in October. Jo is up against 9 other personal trainers from all over Australia and is the only Tasmanian finalist.

A heart to help

My name is Kathy Pigden and I launched my own massage business in July 2019. My primary aim is to assist people with pain relief, rehabilitation, physical and mental well-being while providing them with information to self-manage where possible.

To achieve this, I completed a certificate in Relaxation Massage (Cert IV in Massage Therapy) and opened a home based business to provide my clients with a quality massage. Encouraged by strong demand and positive feedback from clients, I moved to a new location where the facilities where more suited and continued my studies in a Diploma of Remedial Massage Therapy.

I offer Remedial and Relaxation Massage Treatments, although Remedial Treatments are given as a student until I finish clinic sessions in April 2020. After which time I will register with the private health funds to provide my clients with the opportunity to receive private health rebates from their private health fund.

Remedial Treatments are more targeted a certain areas where there is pain, such as the back and neck areas. Where as Relaxation Treatments are a more gentle and holistic approach assisting with mental and physical relaxation (and often sleep). The most popular treatment is a mix of both, starting with a Relaxation Treatment and when I find troublesome spots I use Remedial modalities (techniques) to ease them and continue on with Relaxation.
