Phew! What a fantastic 2 days working alongside Dr Louise Cosgrove and the Gelding Scar and Mare ovarian manipulation.
Every time I observe this amazing work she is doing I learn more and more, there are always some interesting cases.
This time I thoroughly enjoyed the mare manipulations, amazing to see the huge reactions and very obvious changes once the o***y unravels and is no longer twisted.
I had the privilege of externally manipulating/massaging around half of the 20plus horses presenting on over the 2 days.
But the most heart-warming part of this experience is the stories, so many similar stories.
'My horse is just not right, I have tried everything, this is my last option' and the tears of relief when Dr Louise rectifies the problem and offers a road to recovery, let me tell you I was holding back the tears myself.
For the future I want this to not be the last thing we check for, I would love it to be the first thing we check when something just isn't right, unfortunately this approach is not widely accepted particularly by other vets, but the proof is in the pudding and the word is spreading, and we all know as horse people what happens with word of mouth in the horse world.
P.S Louise is great sport about some of the unusual photo positions I took great delight in taking 😉😉
