😲 Check out what ATLAS Operations Manager Chris Kerr and ATLAS CEO Zane D'Mello have been up to!! 🛩

They have just returned from Tanzania, where they climbed Mt Kilimanjaro alongside one of ATLAS's partner organisations, Paratrek! Chris was one of 3 wheelchair users in the group who used Paratrek's Trekking Wheelchairs alongside a fantastic group of experienced tour guides to reach the summit at 5,895 metres above sea level!
🤩 🫶 An incredible achievement for all involved! 👏

❓Did you know?
Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano with its summit at 5,895m above sea level, making it the highest free-standing mountain in the world. This is because the mountain is not part of a mountain range, such as the Himalayas, and actually comprises three volcanic peaks, Kibo (the summit), Mawenzi and Shira!

were one of the recipients of the Community Bank
Geraldton 2023 Community Grant Initiative! ATLAS has
received a massive $3,300 to go towards raising funds
for two yachts in partnership with the Geraldton Yacht
Club!⛵️☀️

Everyone at ATLAS is grateful to receive this grant, as
it will help to continue increasing accessibility and
inclusion within our community! ♿️ 💙

"While it's known for its stunning scenery along coastal cliffs, and crystal clear waters in a world heritage site, it is also famous for its wild dolphin experiences. Over the years I have been visiting, development at Monkey Mia has become more accessible as it has grown, and it is pure magic to be able to get amongst the wildlife every morning. The beach wheelchair is available on request, with a ramp onto the beach (still pushing for some additional beach matting to add increased mobility). There is an accessible boardwalk around the Visitor Centre and all around the resort/caravan park with a wheelchair accessible unit available. A swimming pool with a hoist and accessible toilets are also part of the premises... all this with staff who are more than willing to assist as needed in a polite and respectful way. Access AND Inclusion ... what's not to love?!"

"Many years ago we came to Monkey Mia and went on an ocean cruise.. I chatted to the skipper and owner Greg about how with a few modifications his beautiful catamaran could be made more easily accessible to people with disabilities..he thanked me and we went on our way..a while later I got a phone call from Greg asking if I'd like to help him on the design of his new boat he was building to make it as accessible as possible. Over the following years we have brought many of our friends to this magical place to experience all that this world heritage region has to offer - from the deck of Aristocat2.
So here we are again visiting our friend Greg, and I am so thankful that creating an inclusive and accessible tourism opportunity was something he listened to and took seriously..it is so awesome to be able to get out and enjoy nature alongside family and friends."
