The world lost a border collie yesterday.
A really good one. The best.
If he were human (which he practically was), you might describe him as stubborn, dignified and determined. He would not move if he didn’t want to, and he knew the trick of centring his energy really low so there was little chance of shoving him aside and zero chance of lifting him up. So, he’d stay in the back of the car after returning from an outing for hours, boot up, until such time as someone brought treats.
He had 3 legs for half his life, losing a front one to one-too-many encounters with the motorbikes that he’d round up down at Greenough beach. I thought this might be his undoing. But he returned home from surgery, bucket on head and minus one limb, looked up at us as if to say “what?”, and proceeded to get on with it.
On his three limbs, he ambled up & down Conway St, greeting his fellow neighbourhood dogs, resting on the nicest lawns- Bernie & Heathers’ was his favourite-, barking at the ever-so-tolerant Australia posties and at Baxter, the newest recruit to the street dog posse.
He’d swim, somewhat lopsidedly, for agges, incessantly fetching sticks, balls, cuttlefish and fishing lures (apologies to all the beach fisher people at whose ankles Zeb would sit, waiting in vain for them to throw those perfect, long sticks for him). He’d manage to accumulate vast amounts of beach sand & prickles in his long fur, which helped to create some outstanding matted dreadlocks, and which would be deposited in large patches on the front deck as he dried out. Venturing down south over the holidays, we’d always feel slightly self-conscious on his behalf - his shaggy, sandy, unbrushed mass of matted fluff stamped him as a serious tough-guy amongst the beautifully-brushed & shampooed types from the western suburbs.
His deep brown eyes missed nothing. And revealed the most open, trusting soul. He knew when his gentle presence was needed, positioning himself between us when he felt a certain intensity, raising himself up on his two back legs & placing his one front paw against my chest. That same paw was also his whacking stick, he’d use it on you if he thought you’d stopped patting him. Or on the back door if it was past 6.07pm and he’d not yet been fed.
He was in the way on Friday afternoon, as I was sanding the front deck. “Off, Zeb. Off”, I said. And so off he went, out to the front verge. Where he simply just died. We don’t really know why. Or how. Only that it was so quick. He just looked like he’d fallen down & gone to sleep.
Darling Zeb. One of the best. x

Menopausal women are a $15 billion industry?!!
Beware the ads & the influencers. We dont need what they have to sell.
We need simple lifestyle tweaks, beautiful nutrition & a bit of hormone support.

Our Story

My journey as a Naturopath started 20 years ago when, fresh-faced from a year travelling around Australia, I stumbled through the doors of the Perth Academy of Natural Therapies. After dabbling in Chemistry, Mathematics (seriously!) & Nursing at University for few years, suddenly I felt like I was home. After graduating, I worked in busy clinics in Fremantle & Bunbury before, quite literally, landing with my young family in Geraldton for a little explore of the Mid-West. Fast forward 10 years and here I am, doing what I love. Helping patients understand how their body is trying to show them that all is not so well, whether this be headaches, joint pain, skin rashes or depression. The body has many ways of showing us when all is not so well inside- it is up to us to listen! Nature has provided an extensive array of healing tools- nutrients, herbal & homoeopathic medicines, and a glorious variety of foods. I use each of these to gently support the healing process & remove the obstacles that are getting in the way of the body feeling great.
