Those within that age group can book their Pfizer jab at WA health clinics from today.
Premier Mark McGowan said the expansion means more than two million West Australians can receive the jab.
"I know many young people are very keen to get vaccinated and do their part to keep themselves, their families and their community safe." He said.
The expansion coincides with the state government’s two-week vaccination blitz, where it’s predicted more than 160,000 doses will be administered over the fortnight.
A new community vaccination clinic at the Perth Convention Centre also opens today, and will be open from 8.30am-6pm, seven days a week until August 29.
"We expect the new clinic to be a convenient choice for people, due to its central location and close proximity to Elizabeth Quay Train Station," Mr McGowan said.
Almost 158,000 West Australians have booked their jab over the next fortnight but thousands of additional appointments will be added at the CBD and Claremont clinics over the same period.
More than 1.3 million COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in WA, but the state still has the lowest vaccination rates in the country.
Health Minister Roger Cook has urged everyone eligible to get the jab.
"It’s that simple, do not hesitate.. do not be complacent." he said.
Those aged between 16 and 59 are eligible for the Pfizer vaccine while those aged 60 and over can access AstraZeneca.
