Introducing Yoga Teacher, Chantal Bachere Crinquand - Geraldton Paddle & Yoga
We are getting to know our yoga teachers a little better and Chantal was lovely enough to answer some of our burning questions...
1. How long have you been teaching yoga?
Iβve been teaching yoga for over 15 years. Itβs been a journey of learning, growth, and sharing the practice with so many wonderful students.
2. What do you love about teaching yoga?
I love seeing the transformation in my students as they reconnect with themselves through yoga. It's amazing to watch people find balance, mindfulness, and peace in their practice. Helping others on their journey of self-discovery is a true privilege.
3. What type of yoga is your favourite to teach? And why?
SUP Yoga (yoga on a paddleboard) is definitely my favourite! The combination of yoga and being on the water brings a peaceful, therapeutic element to the practice thatβs hard to beat. I also teach Kids Yoga, which I absolutely love! Introducing kids to yoga is so much fun itβs amazing to see them have a blast while learning mindfulness, focus, and physical awareness in a playful, supportive environment.
4. Is there a particular yoga pose that youβre still working on mastering?
Yoga is a lifelong practice, so Iβm always working to expand and refine my practice. Thereβs no rush for perfection, just continual growth and learning.
5. What has teaching yoga at GYC taught you?
Teaching at GYC has taught me the power of community. The supportive environment has helped me grow as both a teacher and a student, and Iβve been able to connect with students in meaningful ways.
6. What other activities or hobbies do you enjoy outside of yoga?
When Iβm not on the mat, I love doing Pilates, Bollywood dancing, and spending time at the beach. I find these activities bring a good balance of fun, movement, and relaxation.
7. What is your go-to morning beverage?
Water with lemon is my go-to! Itβs a great way to start the day by cleansing and refreshing my system.
8. What is an achievement that you are proud of?
Iβm most proud of founding the Geraldton Yoga Club, which was born from a deep compassion to bridge the gap between clinical mental health care and holistic practices, offering a nurturing community where people can access yoga for better physical and mental well-being.
9. If you could visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to go back to the Caribbean, where I grew up. I havenβt been back in 10 years because itβs so far away, but Iβm determined to return soon. This time, I want to take my family with me so they can experience the warmth, beauty, and vibrant culture of the Caribbean too.
10. Where can we find you?
IRL: On the beautiful Indian ocean practicing SUP Yoga!
