When children play, they’re not just having fun.
They’re building their brain 🪁🥋🎾🎨🧠

Every imaginative game, game of tag, or backyard cubby building is shaping how they think, solve problems, and relate to others.

Play activates the brain’s most powerful learning state, releasing dopamine and endorphins that support memory, creativity, and emotional wellbeing.

So when you see your child building, running, or pretending, they’re not “just playing”…
They’re developing confidence, resilience, and flexible thinking.

Research continues to show that children who have time for unstructured, playful learning often develop stronger skills in focus, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.

In countries like Finland, where formal academics start later and play is prioritised, children consistently perform well across reading, maths, and science.

Instead of adding more pressure, more drills, or more screen time try offering something different.

Because sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do for your child’s future… is let them enjoy being a child.

We can all do with skills in building our resilience 😄

When things are good, they are really good, but when they are bad, they can feel unbearable, often leading to emotional instability or a sense of falling apart.

Resilience is crucial because it allows individuals to adapt to life's misfortunes, rebound from setbacks (such as job loss, illness, or trauma), and maintain good mental health.

My books are open for building resilience 💪🏽please send me a message or an email to schedule.

🤓 Are YouTube Shorts & TikTok’s giving you BRAIN ROT?

A recent study examined research published on the topic of Brain Rot in adolescents and young adults between the years 2023 and 2024. Exploring the impact of social media, video games and other digital platforms. The findings disclosed that brain rot leads to diminished emotional responsiveness, cognitive overload and negative self-concept. It correlates to negative behaviours, social media addiction, anxiety and depression impairing executive functioning such as memory, planning and decision making.

Some good news, the study found that offering limited screentime, engaging in non-digital activities and curating digital content by selecting healthy, educational content that fosters critical thinking skills.

What you can do, filter through the digital noise to find valuable, credible information and enjoy the outdoors, play sport, visit a friend or go for walk to the beach, device free.

Yousef, A. M. F., Alshamy, A., Tlili, A., & Metwally, A. H. S. (2025). Demystifying the new dilemma of brain rot in the digital era.

*Definition - Brain Rot is a perceived loss of intelligence or critical thinking skills, especially on account of the overconsumption of unchallenging or frivolous content posted online.
