Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSIs) are a common problem affecting individuals across various professions and lifestyles.
These injuries, often resulting from repetitive movements, awkward postures, and workplace stressors, can significantly impact daily activities and overall well-being. Chiropractic care offers a comprehensive and holistic approach to addressing RSIs, restoring musculoskeletal balance and promoting optimal function.
Chiropractors employ a variety of techniques to address three prevalent RSIs.
For lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), characterised by pain on the outer elbow, treatment may include joint manipulation of the elbow, wrist, and cervical spine to reduce strain on the affected tendons.
Soft tissue techniques address muscle tension in the forearm, while therapeutic exercises promote elbow stability and functional recovery.
Carpal tunnel syndrome, involving compression of the median nerve in the wrist, often results in numbness and tingling in the hand.
Chiropractic care for carpal tunnel may include wrist and cervical adjustments to reduce pressure on the nerve, alongside nerve gliding exercises to promote mobility.
Ergonomic guidance aims to minimise strain through workstation setup and postural modifications.
Rotator cuff injuries, affecting the shoulder's stability, can cause pain and limited mobility.
Chiropractic treatment may include spinal and shoulder adjustments to optimise joint alignment, therapeutic modalities like ultrasound to reduce inflammation, and rehabilitation programs to restore shoulder strength and flexibility.
Beyond adjustments, chiropractors take a holistic approach to RSI management.
This may include self-care, ergonomics education, and lifestyle recommendations addressing sleep and stress.

A subluxation is a condition where a vertebra or a spinal region has lost its proper alignment and capacity for movement.
In summary this is when your spinal vertebrae are out of normal alignment, which creates disturbances, irritation, tension, and pressure on the nerves in and around the area.
This impedes nervous system function.

Since the nervous system controls and coordinates the body, subluxations can cause pain and dysfunction in the bodily systems.
Left untreated, subluxations negatively affect the overall health of the body. Chiropractic adjustments can easily treat these.
In chiropractic terms, subluxation is another word for a slight dislocation, misalignment, or joint dysfunction of one or more of the spinal joints. It tends to irritate or aggravate the nerve roots of the spinal cord.
Depending on which nerves are being affected, a subluxation may result in pain, muscle changes, and organ dysfunction.

Feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed?
😮‍💨
Try these mindful breathing practices:
1. Breathe Deep Every Day:
Just a few minutes of focused breathing exercises each day can work wonders for your stress levels and overall well-being. Inhale slowly and deeply, allowing your belly to rise, and exhale fully.
2. App-Guided Calm:
Need some guidance? Explore mindfulness apps like Calm, Headspace, or Insight Timer. They offer a variety of guided breathing exercises for relaxation, focus, and sleep.
3. Stress Less, Breathe More:
When faced with a stressful situation, remember to pause and breathe. Consciously deepen your breaths to calm your nervous system and regain control.
Mindful breathing is like a mini-vacation for your mind.
Take a break, tune in to your breath, and find your inner peace. 😌

You might wonder why your chiropractor wants to take X-rays.
It's not always necessary, but those images can be helpful!
Think of it like getting a map of your spine.
Chiropractors can see how everything's lining up, and if there's any wear and tear or old injuries you might not know about.
It's helpful to figure out exactly what's causing your pain.
Plus, it helps ensure it's safe to adjust your spine and that they're doing the right things to help you feel better.
This information from xrays helps them to:
Identify the root cause of your pain:
X-rays can pinpoint specific areas of concern, such as joint restrictions or nerve impingements, allowing for more targeted and effective treatment.
Rule out serious conditions:
In some cases, X-rays help rule out fractures, tumors, or other underlying health issues that may require referral to another healthcare provider.
Personalize your treatment plan:
X-rays provide a blueprint of your spine, enabling the chiropractor to tailor adjustments and other therapies to your unique needs and ensure your safety throughout the treatment process.
Monitor your progress:
X-rays can be used to track the effectiveness of care and monitor any changes in your spinal alignment over time.
While not every chiropractic visit requires X-rays, they are an essential tool for helping chiropractors provide safe, effective, and personalized care

About Dr Mohamed Hussein (Chiropractor)

Dr Mohamed, originally from East Africa, grew up in New Zealand. It was there that his initial interest in chiropractic was sparked after it helped him recover from surgery, which he required as the result of a sporting injury, during his teenage years.

This experience shaped his views about the profession and resulted in him developing a passion for chiropractic. He followed through on this passion, graduating from The New Zealand College of Chiropractic in Auckland (New Zealand). Since then he has worked in clinics throughout both New Zealand and Australia. It is a personal joy of his to witness the positive impacts of chiropractic on the wellness of his patients and he takes a genuine interest in encouraging them to become the healthiest version of themselves that they can be. He is also an avid learner, seeing it as his duty to continually upskill himself, so that he can achieve the very best outcomes.

Dr Mohamed has been based in Bundaberg since 2016, running a successful Chiropractic Clinic. However, he sees a genuine need for access to Chiropractic services within Gin Gin. For this reason, he has expanded and now practices out of Currajong Medical Clinic on specific days.

When he is not providing chiropractic care, he enjoys traveling (particularly around the beauty that is Australia), as well as spending quality time with his friends and family.
