CUSTOM ORDER - and a thank you.
How gorgeous are these two heirloom aprons.
The gorgeous little 3 and 5 year old customers came in in AUGUST and picked and bought their fabrics.
I want to say a massive thank you to this customer for being patient with me and kind to me.
She's helped me remember why I started sewing - it was always therapy for me, it was always supposed to be joyous, and about sharing joy with others, making beautifully crafted pieces that will last generations.
This was never meant to be a "job." I chose to move back into it just over 7 years ago when I became a solo mum because I was no longer able to work in my field.
In that time I built up a manufacturing business that has served some incredibly cool Australian brands, I've supported many parents to get back into the workforce through adaptable employment, I've worked on a great international charity project, I've taught dozens of people to sew and I've hosted tafe students for their placements. It's been really run!
Each day I move through my workload I am finding ways to find alignment again with the joy that sewing used to bring me.
Our story isn't over, but a haberdashery and alterations shop is something I did in 2011 in West End Brisbane which I closed because of its detriments to my health, it's just not where my heart or skills lay.
I hope you enjoy the new shop space, that's now restocked and open from 9-5 Monday - Thursday.
