💥Big things are happening at NTEX Code Red - See for yourself!💥

NTEX has officially launched its YouTube channel, starting with a behind-the-scenes look at the powerhouse operations happening at our Code Red Resource Recovery & Recycling Facility in East Arm, Darwin.

This video captures the scale and impact of what we do every day:
♦️Crushing and repurposing demolition concrete into high-quality Type 2 recycled aggregates for NT civil projects
♦️ Shredding tyres and rubber for export as Tyre-Derived Fuel (TDF) to global circular economy partners
♦️ Decommissioning and recycling marine infrastructure from a major LNG platform in northern Australia

From construction to energy and defence, NTEX is helping reshape the Territory’s material flows by recovering, repurposing and revaluing industrial waste.

⭐️ NTEX team appreciation post no.3 ⭐️

Graham ‘Tangles’ Wright joined the NTEX team a year ago as our Heavy Vehicle Diesel Fitter, and boy do we keep him busy with our growing fleet of plant and equipment!

Tangles is the kind of guy who’s always there for the team, takes time to mentor and care for others, and is never short of good recipe advice!

When asked what he loves about working with NTEX he said “it’s my good boss - like working with an Irish version of me!!” ☘️

Outside of work Tangles is living his best life in rural Darwin with his awesome partner Lee, who we have unofficially adopted into the NTEX team ❤️

Keep on being your marvellous self Tangles - we appreciate you 🙌

📍 Local Capability, National Opportunity - Decommissioning in the NT

NTEX welcomed the team from CODA - Centre of Decommissioning Australia and the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet - Northern Endeavour Decommissioning Program to our Darwin resource recovery and recycling facility, facilitated by the Energy Club NT.

It was a privilege to showcase NTEX’s growing marine resource recovery and decommissioning capabilities, including our newest development - the NTEX Marine Resource Recovery Hub. This project is built on the Territory’s local know-how, supply chain strength, and vision for a circular economy.

Huge thanks to Francis Norman and Samara Schorer - CODA, Craig Waterson - Northern Endeavour Decommissioning Program and William Geddes - Energy Club NT, for taking the time to visit and see our capabilities firsthand.

The following Energy Club NT’s Industry Breakfast brought the bigger picture into focus:

🔻 The Hon. Bill Yan Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure spoke about the NT Government’s growing interest and the NT’s role in offshore decommissioning.

🔻 Francis Norman officially launched the Northern Territory Decommissioning Location Study.

🔻 Andrea de Leon Ewers from the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet provided a valuable update on progress and opportunities in decommissioning the Northern Endeavour.

The conversations that followed around Phase 3 of the Northern Endeavour project, and the Territory’s growing role in the national decommissioning landscape show that there’s not just capability here, but momentum.

We’re proud to be part of it.

UPDATE: Turtle’s funeral will be held on Thursday 24 July at 1:30pm at Resthaven Chapel, 121 Amy Johnson Avenue, Marrara.

This will be followed by an NTEX gathering afterwards at Coolalinga Tavern to honour our good mate Turtle. All are welcome.

——————

On behalf of the NTEX team, it is with great sadness that we share the news that our friend and workmate, David “Turtle” Evans, passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Over the past 6 weeks Turtle faced his illness with extraordinary dignity and bravery. Throughout, his thoughts remained with the work, the projects, and most of all the people he cared so much about.

In our last conversation Turtle said he missed work, and we will miss him deeply. Turtle missed work because it wasn't just a job to him at NTEX - it was a role he took deep pride in and gave his all. NTEX was and is his family.

We’ll share funeral details in the coming days for those who may wish to attend. In the meantime, we know you will stand with us in honouring Turtle's memory and his immense contribution to NTEX, to our industry and to all of us who had the privilege of knowing him - an exceptional man and a friend to all.

We’re absolutely thrilled to share that our Business Development Manager Eileen Breen has won the 2025 Women in Industry – Industry Advocacy Award! 🏆♻️

This national recognition celebrates Eileen’s work leading the charge for smarter, more sustainable waste and recycling solutions - not just in the Territory, but across Northern Australia.

From working with our team to build NTEX Code Red into a flagship for circular economy thinking, to advocating for disaster waste strategies, local recycling innovation, and the NT’s first Maritime Resource Recovery Hub, Eileen has been instrumental in reshaping what’s possible for our industry.

This award is a massive moment for the Territory’s waste and recycling sector - and we couldn’t be prouder.

Congratulations Eileen! 👏

⭐️ NTEX team appreciation post No.2 ⭐️

Anthony Watson joined the NTEX team as a machine operator in 2022, first heading out to a long stint in Jabiru, and now working in projects across greater Darwin and beyond - a big move for a central desert lad!

Anthony has worked hard to achieve his Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations, and is now a gun operator and shining NTEX star.

When asked what he loves about working with NTEX he said it’s “family orientated and a great team” - and family means everything to this man.

When he’s not working at NTEX you’ll often find him out fishing and crabbing with his amazing wife Lily and four kiddo’s living the Territory dream.

Keep kicking goals Anthony - we appreciate you 🙌

⭐️ NTEX team appreciation post No.1 ⭐️

Maurice Greenaway first joined NTEX way back in 2012, and what he doesn’t know about trucking isn’t worth knowing.

When asked what he loves about working with NTEX he said “hard work is appreciated”, but we have a sneaking suspicion a cold bevy at the end of a long day is right up there.

Maurice has been with us for the long haul, seen the good the ugly and everything in between as NTEX has grown and evolved. This fella is true salt of the earth and an all-round legend.

Outside of work he’s busy with his super-star wife Tara raising two fine boys who love trucks every bit as much as their Dad.

“Ken Who?” is Maurice’s Mack-work baby, so when you see him driving around the traps give him a wave 👋

Keep truckin’ Mozz - we appreciate you 🙌

As we take a moment out from celebrating some significant milestones at NTEX, our thoughts are currently with one of our own.

Our long-serving Operations Manager, colleague, and friend, David ‘Turtle’ Evans, has recently been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. True to form, Turtle is meeting it head-on, with grit, grace, and his trademark “glass half-full” attitude. He’s determined to give it everything he’s got, and the NTEX team are right alongside him.

Turtle is more than a manager at NTEX, he’s part of the company’s DNA. His integrity, humour, and steady leadership have shaped who we are, how we show up, and what we stand for.

As Turtle now turns his focus towards his health and spending meaningful time with his family he will step back from his operational role, with John Breen, our Assistant Operations Manager, stepping into the acting role, ensuring smooth continuity across all our projects.

To everyone who’s worked with Turtle over the years, we know you’ll join us in sending him strength, positivity, and the kind of stubborn hope that he’s carried with him through every challenge.

Mr T, you’ve always been the calm in our storm. We’ve got your back - and we’re saving your boots by the door.

Driving Circular Economy Solutions at EXA 2025

NTEX was proud to be part of the Northern Territory delegation at EXA - Energy Exchange Australia 2025, where industry leaders came together to discuss the future of energy.

With Gerry and Eileen Breen representing NTEX, we put the spotlight on one of the biggest challenges facing the energy sector - waste management and circular economy solutions. As the industry transitions toward a more sustainable future, addressing waste at every stage of the supply chain is critical.

At NTEX, we are committed to providing practical, scalable solutions that help energy producers minimize waste, recover valuable resources, and meet their sustainability goals. Events like EXA allow us to collaborate with industry partners, share insights, and drive real change.

A big thank you to the Northern Territory Government - Department of Trade Business and Asian Relations, and all involved in making this an incredible opportunity to showcase what the Territory has to offer. The future of energy is circular, and NTEX is ready to lead the way.
