I love carbs. I prescribe them more than I restrict them.
Somehow women were convinced that we should eat less, fast more, train harder and just “be disciplined” while our hormones are fluctuating monthly and our nervous systems are already carrying a bigger load.
We do not have the same metabolic demands as men.
And we definitely do not thrive on chronic under-fueling.
A woman who lifts, works, thinks, bleeds and wants stable hormones needs adequate energy. That includes carbohydrates.
Carbs support thyroid function, ovulation, progesterone production and nervous system regulation. They fuel performance. They reduce unnecessary cortisol spikes. They help you actually recover from training instead of digging a deeper hole.
Meanwhile we are praised for skipping breakfast, stretching out fasts and surviving on coffee.
If fasting works for you in a grounded, well-fueled body, that is one thing.
But for many women it is just another stressor layered on top of an already stressed system.
We are applauded for shrinking.
For taking up less space.
For proving how little we can survive on.
Meanwhile our cycles disappear, our sleep tanks and we call it “discipline.”
Under-eating is not a personality trait.
It’s a stress signal.
Fuel your body like it deserves to perform.
