On National Sorry Day, Mind Australia and One Door Mental Health Health acknowledge the strength, resilience and enduring cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and remember the Stolen Generations.

Held each year on 26 May, National Sorry Day marks the anniversary of the 1997 Bringing Them Home report and acknowledges the forced removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, communities and cultures.

As a community mental health organisation, we recognise that this history has caused – and continues to cause – intergenerational trauma for many First Nations peoples and communities.

Mind and One Door are committed to listening, learning and supporting healing through culturally safe, respectful and inclusive care. By embracing the cultures, knowledge and wisdom of First Nations peoples, we hope to contribute to a mental health sector where safety, equity and self-determination are realised for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.

What a fantastic day at the Pioneer Clubhouse Open Day!
Today we opened our doors to the community for connection, celebration and a look into the heart of our Clubhouse.

We were honoured to welcome Mayor Sue Heins (Northern Beaches Council), Clr Bonnie Harvey (Northern Beaches Council, Manly Ward), Federal Member for Warringah Zali Steggall, State Member for Wakehurst Michael Regan, One Door Mental Health COO Kinga Barron, and Northern Sydney LHD representatives Miranda Wong and Susie Morgan - with Susie also being the Past President of Pioneer Clubhouse. We also appreciated the presence of members from Rotary Club Manly, partners, supporters and friends.

The day was filled with music from the Pioneer Clubhouse Band, open‑mic singing, a vibrant drumming circle, an art exhibition, and face painting, creating a warm and joyful atmosphere for all who attended.

We also heard powerful reflections and acknowledgements from our speakers, including lived experience insights from Janine Kabir, Pioneer Clubhouse Specialist, and a heartfelt closing message from Clubhouse member Rachel.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, and celebrated the strength of community-led mental health recovery. Pioneer Clubhouse thrives because of you.
Zali Steggall Michael Regan, Independent Member for Wakehurst Northern Beaches Council
