People come to therapy for many different reasons. Some come because they suspect or recognise a mental disorder such as anxiety, depression, addictions and the like. Some arrive seeking support after a major life change such as the loss of a significant other. Some come to work on their relationships. The myriad of reasons for coming to therapy are indeed endless but not everyone comes to therapy during or following some kind of crisis. There is a select group of brave and interesting people who regularly attend therapy simply to get to know themselves better.

What a worthwhile quest! Gaining insight into your strengths and weaknesses. Learning about your personal trigger points and your coping patterns and indeed your patterns and formulas for success. Who are you? What makes you who you are in your world? What do you believe and how have you established those beliefs and most importantly, do those beliefs now need to be challenged?

We invest so much energy into our physical health and wellbeing and so much time focusing on our bank balances; perhaps these are all just feeble attempts to feel worthwhile and secure when the key to our happiness and inner peace lies simply in a deeper exploration of oneself?
