Anyone else feel like the New Year starts in February? You are not alone. There is so much pressure around January/New Year and I honestly don’t think it’s really serving anyone well.

I like to use January to reflect back on the previous year and to really sit with what I would like for the year ahead. Always include things that will light you up, bring you joy and remember to have fun!

It’s never too late to start, you don’t need to wait for a certain date on the calendar or for Monday.

How do you like to move? We all know that exercise is good for us but how do you actually like to move your body? If you are struggling to exercise regularly try bringing in movement that feels good for you. It doesn’t have to look like a gym session, having a dance party at home is a great option too.

January can be an overwhelming month with the absolute onslaught of health information and New Year resolutions. If you are feeling overwhelmed and not sure where to start, or you started out in Jan 1 with good intentions and then life got in the way, pick ONE thing that you will be consistent with over the next few weeks.

Nailing any of the basics of the foundations for health will go a long way in helping you to feel better, and is often more effective than a supplement.

Some of the foundations are:
🏃‍♀️ movement/exercise
💧 drinking water
🛌 sleep (regular bedtime and wake times)
🥩 eating protein with breakfast, lunch and dinner
🥗 adding vegetables or salad to every meal
🤩 having fun- do something that makes you laugh or brings you joy

What ways can you bring in gentleness and consistency to your New Year? And can you start doing those things today instead of waiting for January 1st or always saying “I’ll start on Monday”.

Even though it’s Christmas time it’s important to keep doing the things that help us to feel better. It may look different to your usual routine but keeping in habits like movement can really help you to navigate the holiday season.

Movement/exercise has many benefits but it can also be a way to help cope with what can at times be a chaotic and/or overwhelming time of year.

Struggling to drink enough water? Chilled herbal teas are one of my favourite go to’s to help with hydration. I still recommend you drink plenty of water but a herbal teas might can help to mix it up a little.

My current favourite is the blue butterfly pea flower tea which I have after lunch. They make a beautiful blue tea that magically turns purple when you add a squeeze of lemon juice ✨

How cool are plants!

What’s your favourite herbal tea to have chilled? Put it in the comments below.

Some of my other favourites are:
🍃 peppermint
🍃 chai
🍃 green tea with jasmine

There are still some appointments available this week and next week before I take a break to head down to NSW to spend Christmas with family.

While I’m in Gilgandra I have a limited number of in person appointments available. If you have been sitting on the fence or wanting to see me in person, send me a DM now!

Consistency is better than perfection!

It’s so easy to say “blow it, I’ll start again in the New Year” at this time of year. However, this leads to you feeling worse than ever at what is possibly the busiest time of year for you. Leaving you feeling bloated, puffy, exhausted and limping into the New Year.

To beat this, try to stay as consistent as you can with the following:
💧 drinking plenty of water every day
🥩 eating protein with each meal
🥗 eating veggies or salad with each meal
🥾 moving your body as often as you can, even a 10 min walk helps

Mine is a portable fan because our kitchen has no air flow and I’m a Sweaty Betty living in Central Queensland. And yes I did slide a dad joke in there for those paying attention 😉
