October is Breast Cancer Awareness month!

Did you know that Breast Cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer amongst women in Australia? 57 Australians are diagnosed everyday.

It is important to be aware of how your breast look and feel so that you can identify any unsual changes.

Symptoms of breast cancer include:
🤍a lump or thickening in the breast, especially if it is only in one breast
🤍changes to the shape or size of the breast
🤍changes to the shape of the ni**le, such as dimpling
🤍fluid leaking or discharge from the ni**le
🤍persistent, usually pain that doesn’t go away
🤍swelling or discomfort in the armpit.

Early detection gives the best possible chance of survival, so it is important to be breast aware to ensure you can spot any changes as soon as they appear. By getting to know your breasts and how they normally look and feel you can detect these changes.

🚽How do I know if my child is ready to toilet train? 🚽

Toilet training is dependent on gross motor skills (slide 2), bladder and bowel function (slide 3) as well as emotional readiness (slide 4). Although toilet training will look different for every child these are some common elements they will need to be able to achieve to be toilet trained.

There are many factors which may influence a child’s continence including by not limited to; developmental delays, reduced mobility, tone, overactive bladder, toilet posture, diabetes, constipation, chronic kidney disease and more. If you are unsure or need some help navigating this space - get in contact with your local pelvic health physiotherapist/ GP.

✨ Dry Needling: The Science ✨

Dry needling isn’t just about “releasing knots.” It works by:
✔️ Improving blood flow + oxygen delivery
✔️ Flushing out irritating chemicals
✔️ Resetting overactive muscle activity
✔️ Calming the nervous system’s pain signals

The result? Reduced pain, softer tissue, and better movement.

Dry needling is most effective when combined with exercise and a tailored rehab plan.
