If you're a gym goer or athlete struggling with weight management and performance, you may be unsure of how to approach deficit, maintenance, surplus, or reverse diet phases. However, it's crucial to remember that staying in a calorie deficit for an extended period can have negative health consequences. Although calorie deficits is effective for weight loss, prolonged calorie restriction can lead to a decrease in metabolism, loss of lean muscle mass, and nutrient deficiencies.

In addition to these physical effects, prolonged calorie restriction can have negative impacts on your hormone levels, immune system, and mental health, such as irritability, mood swings, and depression. To achieve long-term success, it's important to develop a structured plan with the right balance of nutrients and utilising the different dieting phases. As an individual on a health and fitness journey like many of you, I have encountered various versions of negative comments regarding my physical appearance. Despite these remarks, I am pleased with my current state and take pride in my efforts to achieve optimal health and strength. In order to progress towards my goal, I prioritize consistent and rigorous training, adherence to a well-planned program, and maintenance of a caloric surplus to facilitate muscle growth. Additionally, I find pleasure in the ability to dine out, a luxury not available during strict bodybuilding preparations. Regrettably, some may only recognize the aesthetic value of oneโ€™s physique during such preparations, failing to acknowledge the journey that led to such an outcome. This Easter, try to incorporate colorful fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into your meals along with lean proteins and healthy fats (and some chocolate ๐Ÿ˜œ).
