Over the weekend, two GCLA vehicles were damaged and are currently unable to be used.
We have already been advised that one of these vehicles will be off the road until at least 8 June due to repair timeframes and parts availability.
For many people, a vehicle may just be a car. For a community not-for-profit like GCLA, these vehicles are much more than that.
They help our team members support customers to access the community, attend appointments, receive services, and stay connected. They also allow our allied health professionals, nurses, and support teams to travel across the Gladstone region to deliver essential services, attend meetings, and respond to customer needs.
When vehicles are damaged, the impact is not just financial. It creates real pressure on service delivery, scheduling, team members, and the people who rely on us. It also places additional strain on not-for-profit organisations that are already working hard to stretch every dollar to deliver safe, reliable and meaningful supports.
Our team is currently working through alternative arrangements to minimise disruption for customers and continue services wherever possible.
We sincerely thank our customers, families and representatives for your patience, understanding and flexibility while we work through this. We know that changes to transport, appointments or service arrangements can be frustrating, and we appreciate your support as our team works hard to minimise disruption.
We are also incredibly grateful to our team members for their flexibility, problem-solving and commitment during this time.
As a community, we all have a role to play in respecting and protecting the resources that help local organisations support local people.
