Exhibition Statement -
My artworks have always had a connection to my home environment. The images I select are sourced from objects that I value or have significance for others in my family. Some of these objects will include still life subject matter, soft furnishings, collections of like objects and foliage from the garden. My chosen subject matter resonates with many people because it creates a connection with other peoples sense of home.
I like to use repetition of shapes and will include areas pattern to define shapes. The processes used in this exhibition are a combination of screen printing and drawing.

"Yesterday, we were super excited to install the award-winning local artist and arts educator Geoffrey Head's exhibition titled 'Dynamic Landscape.' Geoffrey recently won the top prize at The 47th Rio Tinto & QAL Martin Hanson Memorial Art Awards, held at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum on Saturday, October 22, 2023.

'Dynamic Landscape'
April – May 2024

The natural environment behind my house has inspired my artwork for some time now. Through daily observation, I am always aware of the features, growth trends and movements of the vegetation growing there and the fragility of this ecosystem.
The freedom of this tract of land to flourish and survive in a now developed neighbourhood is to be encouraged and I am drawing attention to this through my work.
I record elements of the landscape by taking photographs and editing/abstracting/manipulating what is present using digital media. Colour is the most significant element in the works creating a sense of vitality, energy and excitement.
In this exhibition, the images have been translated into digital prints on paper celebrating this significant area of bushland.

Did you ever skate at the Corones Cafe` and Skate Rink? This week we installed a very interesting exhibition at The Art Gallery Gladstone Hospital. Scones and milkshakes anyone?

"Meet me at the Café! The stories behind the cafés of Gladstone" (1900-1970) was published by Paulette Flint in May 2022. It documents and celebrates the cafés, tea rooms and milk bars from a time before television, computers and online dating.

Nothing compared to a hearty burger from Mick Corones' Niagara Café, or a cold milk shake with shards of ice from Percy Turner at the California Grill Bar.

Take a walk down Memory Lane when you read the stories and see the photographs of these cafés of Gladstone.

"Meet me at the Café! The stories behind the cafés of Gladstone" and "What's in a Name? The stories behind the street names of Gladstone" are available from the artist, Paulette Flint
The exhibition runs from February to 31 March 2024.

🎄DAY 7 of the Community Christmas Tree project started in the General ward making more of the Christmas decorations. Then hanging up some more of the thank you baubles 😍.
Then catching up with a bit of paper work and a few photos with Carey from Santos. Carey bought in some gifts to show their appreciation for all the staff.

It was a great day at Gladstone Hospital catching up with one of our longest supporting partners Doug Deakin from Aestec Services . Doug started supporting arts in health project in 2016 the One Wish project with the Cancer Care unit. Doug is passionate about supporting the community and knows how stressful a stay in hospital can be. We are grateful for the continued support Aestec Services will bring to Gladstone Hospital for 2024.

Thank you Carey for helping to take the 📸😍
