The Hearing Centre Gladstone

The Hearing Centre Gladstone Locally owned & operated, Gladstone Hearing Centre delivers 25+ years of expert hearing care.

Committed to improving lives with quality hearing solutions right here in our community With over 25 years of experience in the hearing care industry, Alan Fort began his journey at his parents’ clinic, where he discovered a passion for providing exceptional hearing services. After the clinic was sold, Alan honed his expertise working with various corporate providers, earning numerous accolades along the way. Fourteen years ago, Alan and his wife Lynne settled in Gladstone, dedicating themselves to delivering high-quality hearing care to the local community and surrounding areas. Owning a clinic was a long-held dream for Alan, and after Lynne gained seven years of industry experience, it became her dream as well. Together, they decided to forgo retirement and open The Hearing Centre Gladstone, a proudly locally owned and operated full-time clinic. Establishing the clinic presented significant challenges, but the unwavering support of local businesses and the community made their dream a reality. Today, Alan and Lynne Fort are proud to serve Gladstone with exceptional care, helping individuals achieve better hearing and an improved quality of life. Many thanks to all our local suppliers:

Not every hearing issue is what you think it is. We regularly see people come into The Hearing Centre concerned about their hearing only to find the problem is simply a build-up of ear wax.

It’s more common than you’d think, and it can have a big impact. Muffled sound, reduced clarity, even discomfort, all from something that’s often quick and easy to address.

The key is not to guess. Avoid using cotton buds or trying to fix it yourself, as this can push wax further in and make things worse.

If something doesn’t feel right, get it checked properly. Sometimes it’s hearing… sometimes it’s something much simpler.

Either way, we’re here to help and always happy to say hello 👂

The Gladstone Harbour Festival raft race wrapped up on Friday… and as always, things didn’t quite go to plan for everyone😄

We’re not saying Alan entered… but if he did, it looks like the “float test” might’ve been overlooked.

Turns out a giant ear isn’t exactly built for buoyancy and when it started taking on water, he was quick to go into damage control mode.

To be fair, when you spend your days helping people with their hearing, you know exactly what happens when water gets where it shouldn’t.

Safe to say, if anyone on the harbour ended up with water in their ear after Friday… Alan and the team at The Hearing Centre have you covered.

Great to see the community out, the harbour buzzing, and everyone having a crack even if some ideas worked better on land than they did in the water😄

The Gladstone Harbour Festival is in full swing this Easter long weekend, and all eyes are on tomorrow’s raft race where things can go from smooth sailing to “how did we end up in the water?” pretty quickly.

We’re not saying Alan has entered… but if he has, he’s clearly come prepared. When you spend your days looking after people’s hearing, you know a thing or two about what happens when water gets where it shouldn’t.

Let’s just say if anyone’s thinking ahead about “water in the ear,” it’s probably him.

Great to see the harbour come alive, the community out in force, and a bit of fun thrown into the mix. Best of luck to everyone hitting the water tomorrow and if you do end up with a bit of harbour in your ear, you know where to go.

Clear communication on site isn’t just a convenience, it’s a safety requirement.

A Workplace Free Field Aided Hearing Test assesses how well your hearing performs in real working conditions, not just in a quiet room. It measures your ability to hear alarms, instructions, machinery and movement around you while wearing your hearing aids, ensuring you meet commercial and safety standards on site.

For many roles across construction, manufacturing, and heavy industry, this isn’t optional, it’s essential for both compliance and personal safety.

At The Hearing Centre, we provide workplace-specific hearing assessments to help individuals and businesses ensure their teams are safe, capable, and meeting required standards. If you or your team need testing, get in touch with us to organise an assessment.

Choosing a hearing aid isn’t like picking something off a shelf.

Every person hears differently. Your lifestyle, the environments you spend time in, and the type of hearing loss you have all play a role in finding the right solution.

At The Hearing Centre Gladstone, we take the time to understand how you live and where you need to hear best whether that’s conversations with family, busy workplaces, social settings or simply enjoying the sounds of everyday life again.

Modern hearing aids are smaller, smarter and more advanced than ever, with options that connect to phones, automatically adjust to different environments and sit discreetly behind or inside the ear.

That’s why choosing the right hearing aid is less about the device… and more about finding the solution that works best for you.

If you’ve been thinking about hearing aids, come in and have a chat with our team. The right advice can make all the difference

Some couples communicate with patience. Some communicate with understanding…and some apparently need a megaphone. 📣😄

If conversations at home are starting to sound like this —
“WHAT?”
“I SAID DINNER IS READY!”
“WHAT?”

— it might not be selective hearing after all.

Hearing loss often happens gradually, and many people don’t realise how much they’re missing until everyday conversations start becoming a bit of a guessing game (or a shouting match).

The good news is, modern hearing care can make a huge difference and usually without the need for a megaphone.

At The Hearing Centre Gladstone, we help people reconnect with the conversations that matter most… and restore a little peace and quiet at home.

If someone in your house is turning the TV up, asking people to repeat themselves, or blaming everyone else for “mumbling”, it might be time for a check.

Call The Hearing Centre Gladstone to book a hearing assessment and retire the megaphone for good.

Not all hearing conversations happen in the clinic… sometimes they happen on the golf course. ⛳

Here’s Alan enjoying the day at The Rotary Club Of South Gladstone’s 2025 Charity Golf Day. Alan is a proud member of the club, and the event is a great example of the local community coming together to support important causes.

While the golf swings might vary in quality (as they usually do), the day is always full of good laughs, great company, and plenty of friendly competition.

At The Hearing Centre, being part of the Gladstone community is important to us whether that’s helping people hear better in the clinic or supporting local events that make our region such a great place to live.

And if you were at the golf day and thought someone yelled “FORE!” a little too late… it might be time for a hearing check.

Choosing the right hearing aid isn’t something you rush… it’s a bit like picking the right pair of shoes, it needs to fit properly and feel comfortable.

Here’s Alan helping a client take a closer look at her hearing aid options. As you can see, there’s a bit of careful inspection involved. Buttons to check, features to explain, and occasionally the important question: “Now where did I put the other one?”

The good news is today’s hearing aids are incredibly small, clever pieces of technology designed to make everyday conversations clearer and easier.

At The Hearing Centre, we take the time to sit down with you, explain the options, and help find the hearing solution that works best for your lifestyle without the pressure.

Because better hearing shouldn’t be complicated… just a little conversation and the right advice.
