“Have you ever heard of baby brain?”
We’ve all laughed about it — those moments of forgetfulness that make us feel like we’re losing the plot. 😅

But here’s the truth: it’s not weakness. It’s evolution.
When we become mothers, our brain rewires — memory may fade, but intuition, empathy, and awareness expand.
That deep knowing when something’s off? That’s your maternal superpower.

So, let’s stop calling it “baby brain” and start calling it what it really is — a beautiful transformation.

Let’s talk honestly about feeding your baby—because there are so many myths out there, and it can feel like everyone has an opinion! The truth is, there’s no single “right” way to feed your little one. What matters most is what works for you, your baby, and your family.

You might be breastfeeding, expressing, doing a mix, or using formula—and each of these has its own ups and downs.

Breastfeeding - can be amazing for bonding and offers great nutrition and immune support, but it’s not always easy. It can be exhausting, sometimes painful, and not everyone is able to do it the way they hoped.

Exclusively expressing - gives your baby breastmilk without direct nursing, and lets others help with feeds, but it’s a big commitment—lots of pumping, cleaning, and it can get lonely at times.

Mixed feeding - (both breast and formula) can take some pressure off and give you flexibility, but it can also be a juggle to balance, and sometimes you might worry about your supply or feel unsure if you’re “doing it right.”

Formula feeding- is a wonderful option for lots of families—it means others can help, you know exactly how much baby is getting, and it can take away some stress if breastfeeding isn’t working for you. Of course, it does mean extra prep and cost, and it doesn’t have the immune factors of breastmilk—but it’s still a healthy, loving way to feed your baby.

Whatever your feeding journey looks like, please know there’s no room for judgment here. You’re doing an incredible job, and your baby is lucky to have you.

At The Motherhood Centre, you can get all the support you need—no matter how you’re feeding your baby. If you have questions, need guidance, or just want someone to talk to, reach out to us. We’re here to support you, every step of the way.

🍷 Can you drink alcohol while breastfeeding? The short answer is yes, but in moderation. Here are some tips to keep in mind:

🍼 Wait until your baby is at least 2-3 months old before having a drink. In the early weeks, your baby's liver is still developing, and alcohol can be more harmful.

🍼 Limit your drinking to 1-2 drinks per week, and avoid binge drinking. Alcohol can pass into breast milk and affect your baby's sleep, mood, and motor development.

🍼 If you do have a drink, wait 2-3 hours per drink before nursing your baby. "Pumping and dumping" is not necessary, as alcohol leaves breast milk at the same rate it leaves your bloodstream.

🍼 Consider timing your drinking around your baby's feeding schedule. If you know you'll be having a drink, nurse your baby before you start drinking or use stored milk to feed your baby while you wait for the alcohol to clear.

Remember, every mum and baby is different, and it's important to make an informed decision about drinking while breastfeeding. If you have questions or concerns, talk to your healthcare provider or send me a dm.

When have you chosen to have a drink whilst breastfeeding? How did it go? Share your tips and experiences!

Navigating fertility treatment can be an emotional and isolating journey—but you don’t have to go through it alone. Our IVF & Infertility Support Group offers a safe, welcoming space for anyone experiencing fertility challenges, including both individuals and couples.

Led by Colette Payne, Registered Nurse, alongside a qualified perinatal mental health counsellor, this monthly group is designed to support you through every step of your fertility journey. Whether you’re just beginning treatment, in the midst of procedures, or processing your experiences, you’ll find understanding, empathy, and practical support here.

Each session provides time to talk about what’s been going on, share how you’re feeling, and connect with others who truly understand the ups and downs of fertility treatment. We’ll explore common challenges, celebrate wins—big and small—and offer evidence-based coping tools in a compassionate, confidential environment.

You’re welcome to participate as much or as little as you feel comfortable. Listening is just as valued as sharing. Partners are encouraged to attend, and all experiences are respected.

Join us each month to find connection, understanding, and hope—together.

Ever looked at a photo and thought, “She must have it all together”?

Here’s the truth behind mine.
You might see a mum who appears calm, put together, maybe even thriving…
But behind this photo, I was in the depths of postnatal depletion—and I didn’t even realise it at the time.

Postnatal depletion, a term coined by Dr Oscar Serralach, describes the physical and emotional state many mothers experience after childbirth. It can show up as:

Constant exhaustion

Brain fog

Mood swings

Low motivation

Feeling disconnected from yourself

These were all signs I was living through, but didn’t have the words or awareness to understand.

If you’re feeling tired all the time, overwhelmed, or just “not yourself” after having a baby—you are not alone, and you don’t have to keep pushing through in silence.

Support exists. Recovery is possible.
And your wellbeing matters just as much as your baby’s.

🌿 The Motherhood Centre was created for this exact reason—to give mums a safe space to be seen, heard, supported, and restored.

If this resonates, please share your story below or reach out.
Help is here, and you truly deserve it. 🤍
