It sits quietly for hours… sometimes days… but when it’s needed, everything changes in seconds.

From standby mode to full emergency response - this is one of the most important tools in a hospital.

Pregnancy and childbirth can bring significant changes to the body, from stretched skin and separated abdominal muscles to changes in breast shape, volume and position.

Post pregnancy surgery is a personalised combination of procedures designed to address these concerns and help restore body contours after pregnancy and breastfeeding. Depending on your goals, this may include:

• Breast lift surgery
• Breast implants
• Tummy tuck/abdominoplasty
• Liposuction

One of the key benefits of post pregnancy surgery is the ability to remove excess skin and improve body contouring in areas commonly affected by pregnancy, including the abdomen and breasts. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, with procedures selected based on your unique needs and desired outcome.

Ever wondered why operating theatres feel so cold?

During surgery, patients can lose body heat much faster than expected - which is why your surgical team closely monitors your temperature throughout the procedure.

I share one technique we use to help keep you safe and comfortable while you’re asleep.

07/05/2026

A recessed or under-defined chin can impact facial balance and jawline definition. Procedures such as chin augmentation or reduction genioplasty may help improve proportions and enhance facial harmony.

Chin surgery may involve reshaping or repositioning the chin bone, or using an implant to improve projection and definition. Each approach is tailored to the individual’s anatomy and goals.

It may be considered to:
• Improve jawline definition
• Address a weak or recessed chin
• Enhance facial balance and proportion
• Refine side profile appearance

A consultation is essential to determine suitability and the most appropriate approach.

Peptides are increasingly popular, often promoted for fat loss, muscle growth, and healthier skin.

But here’s what’s not being said loud enough: Not all peptides are regulated, tested, or even what they claim to be.

In a clinical setting, certain peptides may have a role - but that’s very different to self-prescribing off the internet.

Bottom line: Just because it’s trending doesn’t mean it’s safe.

Liposuction is a targeted body contouring procedure that removes stubborn fat from areas like the abdomen, thighs, arms, back, and under the chin.

Using small incisions and a fine cannula, fat is removed with precision - tailored to your individual shape and goals.

Why consider it?
• Targets localised fat resistant to diet and exercise
• Long-lasting results with weight maintenance
• Faster recovery with modern techniques

It’s important to note that liposuction is not a weight-loss procedure. It is best suited for body contouring rather than treating obesity.

A consultation with Dr Kernohan can help determine if it’s right for you.

On ANZAC Day, we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice, and service of all Australians and New Zealanders who have served — and continue to serve — in times of conflict and peacekeeping.

As someone originally from Ireland, I have a deep appreciation for the freedoms and way of life we are privileged to enjoy here in Australia today, and the sacrifices made to protect them.

It is a day of reflection, gratitude, and respect.

As a practice, we will also be closed on Monday 27th April in observance of this important day, allowing our team time to reflect and pay their respects.

Lest we forget.

Back, neck or shoulder pain?
Bra strap grooves or skin irritation?
Struggling to exercise comfortably?

For many women, larger breasts can impact daily comfort and function.

Breast reduction surgery may help relieve these symptoms when breast size is the main cause — though other factors (like underlying back issues) should be considered.

A consultation with Dr Kernohan focuses on your symptoms, medical history, and goals, with a clear explanation of your options, expected outcomes, and potential risks. You may need more than one consultation to make a fully informed decision.
