The Swedish Pilates Studio is a boutique Pilates Studio located in beautiful Glen Iris on Glen Iris Rd just opposite from Ferndale Park. I offer Pilates in small (mat Pilates and Reformer), friendly and personal classes (6 participants), with exercises that are gentle and safe, but very effective. I want to provide a place where you can meet like-minded people, gain inspiration and recharge your energy.

Why the Pilates Ball Is So Effective
1. Wakes up deep stabilizers
2. Improves alignment awareness
3. Makes pulses even spicier
4. Adds instability (the good kind)

The sneaky “P” word in Pilates… pulses
In Pilates, pulses are small, controlled, repeated movements performed at the most challenging part of an exercise — usually where the muscle is under the greatest tension.
Why Pulses Make Everything Harder
Increased time under tension
You stay in the “burn zone” longer, which fatigues the muscle faster.
Targets endurance + control
Because the movement is small, momentum can’t help you — it’s all about precision.
Deep muscle activation
Especially in Pilates, pulses light up stabilizers (hello, transverse abdominis and glutes).
They look innocent………They are not.
