It’s Invisible Disabilities Week (19–25 October)! 🌻

Around 80–85% of people with a disability have one that isn’t visible. These include neurological, cognitive, sensory, mental health, and chronic conditions that aren’t always immediately apparent.

Not all disabilities are visible — but a little understanding and kindness can go a long way in making everyone feel seen and supported.

💙 See the Invisible this Invisible Disabilities Week 💙
Not all disabilities can be seen, but that doesn’t make them any less real.

This week, we’re shining a light on the unseen challenges faced by people with PTSD, autism, chronic pain, and other invisible disabilities.
At Assistance Dogs Australia, our specially trained Assistance Dogs provide more than companionship; they bring calm, confidence, and independence to everyday life. 🐾

Let’s all remember to:
✨ Listen with empathy
✨ Speak with kindness
✨ Look beyond what we see
Because invisible doesn’t mean imaginary and no one should have to walk their journey alone. 💛

One of Western Australia’s biggest disability therapy providers, Therapy Focus, has gone into voluntary administration.

Therapy Focus has offices in Perth, Bunbury and Margaret River.

Therapy Focus said the decision was made as a result of "sustained financial pressure", made worse by recent cuts in National Disability Insurance Scheme pricing for therapy services.

“It was a significant reduction, and resulted in a multi-million dollar cut in our revenue with just two weeks’ notice,” Therapy Focus Board Chair Fiona Payne said in a statement.

She added that the cost of service delivery had also significantly increased.

“The most significant impediment to this work has been the inability to match our pricing, which is set by the NDIA, with the cost-of-service delivery," Ms Payne said.

"This is compounded by the failure of the pricing for therapy to reflect increased operational costs.”

McGrathNicol has been appointed as administrator.

Therapy Focus is assuring clients that there will be no interruption to services or appointments.

Chief Executive of National Disability Services Michael Perusco said Therapy Focus was a vital part of the disability landscape in WA.

“They provide a quality service, they work with about four thousand people, and two-thirds of those are children,” Mr Perusco says, speaking with Mark Gibson on Perth Breakfast this morning.

He says the administration is emblematic of what is happening in the quality provider market more broadly.

“We are seeing a situation where the quality providers who have been around for decades ... are under immense financial pressure, and are making very difficult decisions," Mr Perusco said.

Our Story

Gledhill Therapy Services began in 2005 with massage and reflexology. It was a dream of mine to help people with disabilities to access ongoing treatment at affordable prices, and thanks to the NDIS, we have been able to achieve that under the direction of Allied health professionals such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Speech Therapists in an allied health assistance capacity.

Gledhill Therapy Services links in with other local organisations and groups to provide massages and reflexology at realistic and achievable prices. Call and discuss a programme that suits your clients and services.

Services are available to the general public at my home clinic at the prices stated here on the Gledhill Therapy Services page. Gledhill Therapy Services also provides therapy assistance (O.T, Physiotherapy assistance, Diversional and Recreational Assistance) both in a supportive one to one basis and as a locum service to organisations and support work.
