MAINTENANCE OFFICER / HANDYPERSON
We are seeking a part time Maintenance Officer / Handyperson who is self-motivated and with a "can do" attitude, to contribute to the effective and efficient operations of the Hospital. This role will ideally be job share, with hours to be agreed with the successful candidate(s).

🩺 This month we’re highlighting the talents of Dr Alexa Potter, one of our Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons who specialises in hand, skin cancer, plastic and cosmetic procedures.
Dr Potter completed her clinical studies at Oxford University in the UK, including a Bachelor of Medical and Surgery, and an Honorary Graduate Fellowship from the University of Wisconsin in USA. After completing Basic Surgical Training in the UK, Dr Potter achieved Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons, England, and went on to gain nearly three years experience in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery before moving to Adelaide.
Since arriving in Australia, Dr Potter has trained under national and international experts in Plastic Surgery and in 2016 was awarded her fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
Throughout her training Dr Potter’s primary subspecialist interest has been surgery of the hand and wrist, including arthritis, Dupuytrens Disease and nerve disorders as well as acute injuries and reconstruction. She has undertaken additional specialist training at the internationally recognised Brisbane Hand and Upper Limb Research Institute, endorsed by the Australasian Hand Surgery Society, to further her expertise in this field.
Dr Potter holds a staff specialist position at Flinders Medical Centre and Noarlunga Hospital in the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Unit where she is involved in directing the Hand Surgery services. Additionally, she is involved in the supervision and training of junior doctors and medical students and is a lecturer in Plastic Surgery + Anatomy at Flinders University.
Dr Potter welcomes referrals for all areas of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, including specialist hand and wrist procedures. GCH is proud to be one of her trusted hospitals for surgery and patient care. 😊

🌭 This Sunday, 13 July, we are holding a BBQ Sausage Sizzle Fundraiser at Bunnings Marion, 9am-4pm.
Please come and show your support for GCH by visiting us for a sausage, drink or both! All funds raised will go towards the purchase of essential clinical equipment and infrastructure maintenance.

⚫️🔴🟡 NAIDOC Week, 6-13 July 2025 ⚫️🔴🟡
GCH would like to recognise NAIDOC Week 2025. This week is held across Australia in the first week of July each year to celebrate and recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and is an opportunity for all Australians to learn about First Nations cultures and histories and participate in celebrations of the oldest, continuous living cultures on earth.
The theme for this year, "The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy", celebrates not only the achievements of the past but the bright future ahead, empowered by the strength of our young leaders, the vision of our communities, and the legacy of our ancestors.

🩺 This month we’re putting the spotlight on Dr Yugesh Caplash, one of our talented Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr Caplash is a highly respected specialist who chooses GCH as one of his preferred hospitals for operating on and caring for his patients, having consulted at our Hospital for over 10 years.
Dr Caplash performs a wide variety of aesthetic/cosmetic surgery procedures and has a special interest in primary and secondary rhinoplasty, facelifts, breast surgeries and body contouring following weight loss. Dr Caplash’s private practice involves a healthy mix of reconstructive and aesthetic surgery of the face, breast and body.
Dr Caplash is respected for his genuine concern of the needs of each individual patient. He is committed to helping patients make appropriate decisions and guiding them through their treatment process. His surgical skill and respect as a leader in this field is matched by his reputation for caring and concern for his patients.
Dr Caplash is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons, a member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. Currently he is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon and Director of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Royal Adelaide Hospital, where he is committed to the education and practical training of future plastic surgeons. Dr Caplash is also an examiner for the Plastic Surgery, FRACS examination.

📢 Calling all Administration superstars! 🌟
An opportunity has arisen within our Administration team for a casual Administration Officer.
This role will assist to fill shifts across all areas of admin (Pre-Admissions, Admissions, Reception, Medical Records, Consulting Rooms) on a casual, as-needs basis, covering roster gaps and staff leave (both planned and ad-hoc).
The successful candidate will be provided with training, and will ideally be available to commence ASAP.

It's been a week of recognition, celebration, awareness (and sweet treats!) here at GCH over the past 7 days, with our acknowledgement of World Hand Hygiene Day on Monday 5 May, and International Nurses Day today, 12 May.
🖐 World Hand Hygiene Day
The focus this year was ‘Gloves at the right time. Hand Hygiene all the time: A sustainable path to better hand hygiene’.
GCH is proud to celebrate our result of 92% compliance across all areas, against a National Hand Hygiene compliance rate of 87%. 👏
Well done to all staff for your ongoing commitment to hand hygiene, and thank you to the three hand hygiene Assessors who regularly audit and submit our results to National Hand Hygiene Australia.

IND is celebrated around the world every 12 May, the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, with this year's theme being ‘Our Nurses, Our Future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies’.

We are a 46 bed, not for profit facility and have been contributing to the provision of quality care to the community since our opening in 1950. Our hospital, in collaboration with accredited private specialists, offers high quality, patient focussed care in a broad spectrum of speciality fields.
The Staff and Management of Glenelg Community Hospital recognise the important role our hospital plays as a part of the local community and in the provision of services to regional, interstate and international patients.
Located 50 metres from the beach our facility has beautiful surroundings providing a picturesque, relaxing setting for recovery. With a range of shopping, restaurant and accommodation facilities available nearby, an ideal setting is provided for family or friends supporting the patient.
Additional services provided to our patients and the community include a Pre-Admissions Clinic and Case Management. Glenelg Community Hospital does not provide a casualty or accident and emergency service direct to the public.
