We are please to welcome Manual Therapist, Kenneth Yuen to our Allied Health team, commencing 20th October.

Kenneth has over 25 years of physiotherapy experience and is an APA Titled Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. He provides one-on-one care with a strong focus on manual therapy, helping patients recover from pain, injury, and movement problems.

Kenneth is a Certified Practitioner in Fascial Counterstrain, a modern treatment approach that targets the fascia — the connective tissue that surrounds and supports every part of the body including nerves, veins, arteries, visceral organs, bones, and muscles. By treating restrictions in fascia, he can restore proper function to these underlying structures and support the body’s natural healing. Strain/counterstrain is recommended by top ranking motivational speaker, author, and business coach, Tony Robbins in his recent book "Life Force" which examines the best of what modern medicine has to offer for living longer, healthier and in less pain. See Chapter 11: Living Pain Free. We are very lucky to have Kenneth Yuen join us at Bayside, as he is one of the very few therapists in Australia qualified in this technique.

In addition, Kenneth holds a Diplomate in Osteopathic Manipulative Theory & Practice from the Osteopathic College of Ontario (Canada). This advanced training allows him to integrate osteopathic theory and concepts into his treatments, providing a broader and more holistic approach to care.

Kenneth can assist with:

• Neck, back, shoulder, and hip pain
• Sports and overuse injuries
• Headaches, jaw discomfort, and nerve irritation
• Postural issues, stiffness, swelling, or mobility restrictions
• Chronic pain management
• Post-operative and post-surgical rehabilitation

Kenneth is a caring and experienced practitioner who believes in restoring comfort and movement so patients can return to work, sport, and the activities that matter most in daily life.

Type of billings accepted – Private patients, EPC/Chronic Disease Management, Worker’s Compensation, Motor Vehicle Accidents, and DVA.
No referral is required for private patients.

Our Cosmetic Injector Nurse Fan Xu is excited to now offer Tixel 2 non invasive skin rejuvenation treatment. For a limited time she has an introductory special of combined full face and eye area treatment for $480 (saving $280).

Tixel 2 is a skin rejuvenation system designed for improving skin firmness, and rejuvenating the skin. It can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, acne skin and superficial pigmentation and can also reduce wrinkles, puffiness, dark circles, and sagging on the delicate skin around the eyes. It operates with thermomechanical ablation using heat (400°C) and micro-needle pyramids to stimulate collagen and elastin production.

The treatment takes around 30 minutes, minimal pain and a recovery period of 1–2 days with minimal side effects (swelling, redness).

Results after the first session can include firmer skin, a reduction in wrinkles and lifted eyelids. For best results 3–4 sessions are recommended, spaced at least 1 month apart.

To discuss Tixel 2 or cosmetic injectables with Fan you can book a free consultation. She is available at Bayside Family Medical & Musculoskeletal Practice on Fridays 2.00pm to 5.00pm. Call us on 8295 1890 to book your appointment.

Thursday 11 September is R U OK?Day. Whether it’s a friend, family member, partner, or colleague , the people around us go through life’s ups and downs every day.

Those who are regularly asked, 'are you OK?' report increased feelings of wellbeing, and nine in ten Australians report feeling grateful, supported and cared for when someone genuinely asks them if they're OK - and that’s a good reason to give it a go.

Check your supplements! Excess artificial Vitamin B6 in supplements can cause peripheral neuropathy. It is a common ingredient in many supplements, including but not limited to magnesium, zinc, and multiB supplements, as well as multivitamins. Words in the supplement name like muscle, ease, ultra or super are a good clue to read the label carefully. B6 may also written as pyridoxine or pyridoxal, and this may be in small print.

This article features Blackmores, but the B6 problem applies to almost all of the vitamin companies.
