Half eye glasses (or half eyes) may put you in mind of an old school teacher or a librarian, glaring at you over the top of her glasses, but half-eyes these days can be just so damn cool! Look at those colours! And that's just the beginning. All of these frames come in multiple colours, so you can have even more! (My ambition in life is to have my cataracts done and only need reading glasses and then I will have multiple pairs of half eyes in all different colours. It's the little things ... )
As you can see from the pictures, you can get more subtle half eyes in your standard golds, silvers or gun-metals. Not everyone wants bright colours splashed across their nose. A lot of half eyes come with a nylon upper rim, which makes it easier to look over the top, so you are not distracted by the metal of the upper rim.
All in all, you can have your half eye glasses as merely functional or fabulous statements for all the world to see. Which you like, we have many here we can show you, and we will answer all your questions on any topic.

What colour are your eyes? If you said blue or green, you may be wrong. All eye colours are determined by how much brown-coloured pigment, called melanin, is contained in cells in the iris. Differences in eye colour are the result of different amounts of melanin pigment granules within cells in the iris called melanocytes. Though people can have green and blue eyes, there are no green or blue pigments in the iris, only brown. A person with less melanin in the melanocytes of his or her iris will have a lighter eye colour (blue or green, for example) than a person with a greater concentration of melanin, who will likely have brown eyes.

Ready for something different? These frames are certainly and most definitely different! I'm not saying you'll find these in stock at our store, but we do have a brand called Woow, so that second frame is close enough, and the last pair of glasses have been made with two old bicycle bells, so there's some proper recycling as well as them being hand-made! Limited edition, each one is a stand-alone piece.

I am concerned about number 4. If she gets near an open flame, she's going to light up like a Roman Candle.

Have you ever wondered about what makes up an eye? We all know the pupil and "the coloured bit" (the iris), but there is so much more to it. This photo shows some slightly more than basic parts of the eye like the lens, which is where a cataract will grow, and the vitreous body, which is a gel-like substance that is inside the eye, between the lens and the retina, helping the retina work and making the eye be it's nice, eye-ball shape. I don't know about you, but I'm suddenly having visions of an eye without the vitreous body and seeing it in a very sad and sorry shape.
Look up some of the other parts listed here. Tell us what they are and what they do in the comments. Extra points for the person who comes up with the name for the spot in the retina, not marked here, that gives the best central vision.

We have new Ana Hickmann frames in stock. These slick, modern women's frames hail from Brazil where being slick and modern is an art form. Ana Hickmann frames come in a huge variety of designs and all of them show the strength of the frames without compromising on elegance. They are available in solid, chunky plastic, delicate metal and all points in between. We have access to over 3000 frames from the Australian distributor, so if we can't find something to suit you, it's time we found new careers in the cardboard box manufacturing industry.

Flexon frames were launched in America in 1988 and, as you can see, they are flexible! Their super-flexi titanium that has been treated and tested multiple ways using Japanese material and technology, and what's more, they have a 2 year UNCONDITIONAL warranty. That means if you have caused damage to the frame by, for instance, sitting on them, or running over them with the car (don't laugh; it happens!), as long as you have the damaged frame to bring in to us, the company will replace the frame at no charge. However, you have to pay for replacement lenses, if required.
So come and see our super-flexi Flexon frames. We always have them sitting pretty on the shelf at 368 Main Road, Glenorchy, ready for the next patient to flex, buy and wear.

It's amazing how there are so many different eyes out there in the world, that all do the same job in so many different ways. For instance, our eyes are fixed to the front of our head, because we are primarily predatory animals. Our eyes are well forward on our head which allows for binocular vision and depth perception. Other predator animals, such as cats, can control the size of their pupils while they hunt to allow the perfect amount of light in.
Prey animals (antelopes, sheep, zebra, rodents) have eyes on the side of their head which gives them a large area of peripheral vision and nearly 360 degree vision to watch for predators. Each eye sees a separate image, which is known as monocular vision. It isn't as sharp a focus as we have, with our binocular vision, but they don't need it to be focused, they just need to know if something is after them!

Lily is loving her time with us. She's helping with the paperwork (by eating the paper) and keeps our pens in check (by stealing them all, usually out of our hands as we try to use them) and she does a reconnoitre of the office every-so-often, just to make sure there are no undesirables, but since she greets everybody like a long lost friend, she's proven she doesn't know what an undesirable looks like. She has proven to be a very popular member of staff, in her casual role as office entertainment, and we are very pleased to have her with us for as long as it lasts.
