Don't know what kirtan is?
It is group singing of mantras, often using Sanskrit, an ancient hindu language. It is used to praise gods and deities, to honour the creation of all but also used to unite people. It is used to dissolve the difference between individuals through harmony. As the voices come together, it brings about a sense of fullness.
Common questions:
Do I need to be a good singer?
Absolutely not, it's about dissolving into the sound with everyone else.
Do I have to sing?
Nope, it will help create harmony in the space if you do, though just soaking it up isn't against the rules.
What do the mantras mean?
Each one will focus on different things, they often focus a difference Deity and their personality and praise their gifts.
Why sing kirtan?
You will understand when you get there.
It's more relaxing than a massage and more energising then clubbing.
