FEEL GOOD FRIDAY!

We all need positivity when we are struggling but what are you saying? Toxic positivity does not help and is invalidating. It is perfectly fine to ask for help, cry, know things are tough right now. Let's change our language and offer support not invalidation.

Happy World Social Work Day. Today we celebrate and appreciate social workers and all the work they do. Laura is our social worker and she is good at reminding us of social justice, autonomy, diversity and what can be achieved with joint action.

Thank you to all the social workers working hard so their clients voices are heard.

Happy International Women's Day to each and every woman. The ones we work with, live with, socialise with and the ones we are inspired by. Let us to continue to change the world to make it equitable for all.

The theme of this year's IWD is . The difference between equality and equity is crucial to change. Equal opportunities can actually be exclusionary as it does not take into account each person's individual circumstances. To learn more, have a look at the IWD website.

We all know Brody, our OT, never shys away from things that may be a little bit different. This is what we like most about him.

Yesterday his new shoes arrived and we can only say they look a bit..... business in the front and party out the back.

The mullet volleys sure are a fashion statement. The main thing we love is that 100% of profits go to the Black Dog institute to support mental health.

Yesterday Brody had many conversations regarding his shoes and it sparked conversations about mental health in our community, families and friends.

If you want to grab yourself a pair go to the Volley website and order them.

Happy International Women's Day to each and every woman. Thank you for being you and standing up for women's rights!

Imagine a gender equal world. A world free of bias, stereotypes and discrimination. A world that's diverse, equitable, and inclusive. A world where difference is valued and celebrated. Together we can forge women's equality. Collectively we can all .

Celebrate women's achievement. Raise awareness against bias. Take action for equality.

Thanks for the wonderful write up The Brain Injury Community. I am truly humbled by your post. It is wonderful to see such support and advocacy for people living with a brain injury.

Last week we had the opportunity to meet up with Brodie from Embrace Balance Allied Health.

The difference between an OT that understands Brain Injury and one that doesn’t is HUGE and Brodie certainly understands Brain Injury.

Brodie’s assessment of our Community Peer was one of the most thorough and inclusive I have ever seen. He knew the right questions to ask. He certainly knew how to put our Peer at ease.

The gentleness and sensitivity of this giant certainly defied his size.

The role of an OT is more than just saying, you need a physio, you need a bed, you need assistance with walking. The role of a great OT is to help you find the right physio, find the right bed and Brodie did just that.

In the time he sat with us, you could see the cogs turning in his brain in how he can help ensure our Brain Injury survivor could get the best, tailored support that she could.

If you are in the Sunny Coast area, we highly recommend Brodie. Check him out here: https://www.facebook.com/Embracebalancealliedhealth
