🐶 THE POWER OF PETS 🐶
Nothing compares to the joys of coming home to Hudson. The unconditional love beaming towards me, despite the troubles of the day they seem to drift away within seconds of seeing my furry little friend.
WHO IS WITH ME? 🙋🏻♀️
It sparked my interest in researching the benefits of animals in the promotion or improvement of health. . . .

SO WHAT IS ANIMAL OR PET THERAPY? 🤔
It refers to the use of animals as a way to help people cope with and recover from some physical and mental health conditions. *
Research on human-animal interactions is still relatively new. Some studies have shown positive health effects, but the results have been mixed.
WHAT DID I FIND? 🔍
I've broken some of the benefits down into 3 categories;
Psychological Benefits;
Reduces stress, pain and anxiety, provides motivation, stimulation, and focus, reduces fear or worry, alleviates symptoms of post traumatic stress and increases mood.
Physical Benefits;
Reduction in cortisol (stress- related hormone), lowers blood pressure, lowers heart rate, increases willingness to engage in exercise and improves motor skills and joint movement.
Social Benefits;
Reduction in feelings of loneliness, increases feelings of social support, bridges the gap in social situations, increases self esteem and increases verbal communication.
Remember with owning an animal comes great responsibility 🫶🏽
