I believe in the power of setting goals and harnessing the energy of the new year. But not in the way traditional goal setting teaches us.

I used to make time based goals - think ‘I want to lose 5kg in 8 weeks’. It’s better than no goals, but it doesn’t always work.

I love that you listened to your needs and made a decision to honour what your soul needed over what your mind says you ‘should do’

Oh and we are the kind of community that nobody cares what you wear or if it’s ’yoga wear’. We just love having real women in our sanctuary where you can be free to be and express your authentic self 🙌🏻

After a very busy week, I intended to catch up with housework but decided to attend Yin Yoga to start the day.

Oh I am so glad that I did. It was not only much needed but the beautiful instructor, Vanja Bell’s commentary throughout the poses allowed me to soften the mind and connect within.

I can’t quite remember what was said but the essence of it was to take note of where the tension is and your mind may try to distract you with a ‘to do’ list or go into dreamland, but just gently go back and notice/acknowledge the tension.

With a deep breath– send the breath to the area of tension and watch the breath, like air bubbles, disperse the tension. It may take shape visually like a sharp edge shape, use imagination to soften and round it. …oh it was so good…to allow…to receive.

How often do we suppress what we are feeling and don’t take note of where energetically it is getting stored in the body, causing discomfort – until we take notice of it?

The practice of Yin Yoga on the outside – may look like you are doing nothing …even just sleeping…but internally, magic happens.

We started off with the legs up on the wall to work on softening the fascia tissues. This pose, I have heard is a good one to do every evening, can do it whilst watching TV, etc as a lymphatic drainage too.

I wanted to share my experience and asked for a photo...yes I'm not in my yoga clothes as I came from school drop off...but that doesn't matter.I showed up and reap the benefits.
