Let’s talk healthy vs unhealthy eating behaviours. Like any relationship, there are red and green flags that should act as a cue to evaluate your relationship with food and eating. You may have ignored these warning signs when it came to your ex, but we don’t want any toxic relationships over here! 🚩 Unhealthy Eating Behaviours 🚩
1). Cutting out foods or whole foods groups without a medical diagnosis.
2). Weighing food and counting calories or macronutrients for extended periods of time.
3). Labelling food with an emotional attachment or judgement.
4). Feeling anxious about eating at social events.
5). Ignoring hunger cues by smoking, exercising or drinking water to suppress appetite.
✅ Healthy Eating Behaviours ✅
1). Eating a variety of different foods, including foods from all food groups (fruit, veg, lean meat or meat alternatives, grains and cereals and last but not least, dairy or dairy alternatives)
2). Eating appropriate amounts and types of food to support your physical, mental, social & emotional well-being and development.
3). Practising mindful eating.
4). Eating regularly and including protein, carbohydrates and fats at every meal.
5). Identifying and obeying signals of fullness and hunger.
