Have you ever experience a changed internal state of being within your body or mind that you can't quite make sense of?
Breathing practices, rehab exercises, time in the sun or nature can impact our inner physiology on specific ways that often we aren't aware of.
I am constantly asking 'why?', 'how does that work?', especially when it comes to the world of yoga, physical rehab and science.
The more I question, the more I educate myself, my students and my clients.
The more we are educated on the 'whys' and 'hows', the more likely we are to grasp these concepts and implement the tools we are learning into our life to enhance and support our experience.
Here is the start of a series, touching on a variety of practices within the path of yoga and how, when practiced, they can positively impact our internal physiology.
Note: In certain population groups, like those experiencing or moving through trauma, these responses can be altered within the body and sometimes, tools we might think are helping e.g. certain breathing practices, might actually be hindering that persons experience. These posts are educational and not personal prescription. Please reach out if you wish to know more.
