Neck or shoulder tightness after a day at the desk starting to become an “everyday” feeling?
Long hours at the computer, phone or steering wheel can gradually load up the muscles and joints through your neck, shoulders and upper back. You might notice:
• A dull ache by the end of the day
• Tightness when you turn your head
• Feeling like your shoulders are creeping up towards your ears
• Needing to constantly stretch or roll your shoulders to get comfortable
Small changes like regular movement breaks, adjusting your screen height and bringing your keyboard and mouse closer can all help. But if the tightness keeps coming back, it can be useful to have things properly assessed.
At Eclipse Health and Osteopathy in Hollywell at the Runaway Bay Marina, our osteopaths take the time to:
• Ask about your work set-up, daily habits and health history
• Examine how your neck, shoulders and upper back are moving
• Discuss what may be contributing to your discomfort
• Offer treatment and management options that are appropriate for you – which include hands-on techniques (when suitable), simple exercises and practical desk-set-up advice
The goal is to help you better understand what’s going on, ease irritation where possible and give you strategies to support your body through your workday, not just for a single appointment.
