WHY COLD LASER IS THE BEST TREATMENT FOR FUNGAL NAILS?

◼ It is the only laser safe to use on diabetic patients.
◼ Safer than oral medication and won't interfere with other medications.
◼ Does not require daily application of topical agents and only takes around 12 minutes per foot.
◼ Speeds up recovery as it stimulates increased blood flow to the affected area, thus making the nails grow quicker and stronger.
◼ Helps prevent infections from spreading to other toes as all nails are lasered simultaneously.
◼ In conjunction with our unique process, it reduces the risk of re-infection.

Wondering if your fungal nails are suitable for Cold Laser Treatment?
Find out by booking an appointment with our skilled podiatrists. They will assess your condition and provide personalised advice to determine the best course of action for you. (07) 5526 1988

Today, we're diving into a topic that many of us have encountered on this journey of parenthood - GROWING PAINS!

Those mysterious aches and pains in our little one's legs can be worrisome, but they're often a normal part of growing up. Here are some insights and tips to navigate through them:

Growing pains commonly occur in 30% of children especially active kids. They typically affect children aged 3 to 12, often cropping up in the evening or at bedtime.
These pains can manifest as muscle cramps in the legs, often around the calves, front of legs, thighs, or heels.

To help your child find relief:

◾ Make sure your child is drinking plenty of water during the day (limit bed time so they aren't frequenting the toilet at night)
◾ Heat Pads and consider gentle massages
Magnesium/Epsom Salt and a warm bath.
◾ If the pain is disrupting sleep regularly, over-the-counter pain relievers can help (always consult with your doctor first).
◾ Orthotics may help if these are severe and persistent (via a certified Podiatrist recommendation ONLY).
◾ If you see any swelling, redness, flat feet, pigeon toes, or other leg complaints, it is important to see a podiatrist to rule out any underlying issues.

During these episodes, being patient and offering comfort can go a long way. Sometimes, a cuddle or a bedtime story works like magic!

Let's talk about something that affects more people than you might think - FLAT FEET!

Flat feet can impact your posture, walking, running, and even cause pain.
But, flat feet are nothing to be ashamed of; they're actually quite common!

In many cases, flat feet can be cured or fixed, depending on the initial cause of the condition, lifestyle factors, and general health.

There are two main causes of flat feet, inherited (when you're born with flat feet or develop it at an early age, and acquired (when it is caused by lifestyle or injury).

Whether you've had them since birth or they developed over time, here are some ways to help your flat feet feel more comfortable.

1. Stretching & Exercises: Incorporate some gentle foot stretches and exercises into your routine to strengthen your arches.

2. Supportive Footwear: Invest in shoes with good arch support. Your feet will thank you for it! Alternatively, orthotic inserts provide extra support and improve your comfort.

3. Listen to Your Body: If your feet ache, give them a break! Don't push through the pain.

4. See a podiatrist with your concerns. Don't let it go on too long. There is nothing to be ashamed of and there is help available at the Gold Coast Foot Clinic. We deal with common complaints of flat feet daily.

Today we discuss a controversial shoe - THE CROC! 🐊

Love them, or hate them, Crocs are 'in trend' at the moment, and their popularity doesn't seem to be going anywhere!

As a podiatrist, we weigh in on the trend, and whether those Crocs will help or hinder any foot concerns you may have.

The Pro's:
The best thing about Crocs is that they are lightweight, comfortable, and easy to slip into and out of. They are also breathable, promote circulation, and have enough room to prevent compression of the toes by allowing room to move when you’re walking.

They can also help to eliminate plantar pain and any arch issues. Crocs do this by supporting the arch and cushioning the heels.

The Cons:
Unfortunately, they are not ideal for everyday wear or long periods. If you wear them for an extended period, Crocs can create more foot issues that can otherwise be avoided.
They were originally designed as waterproof boating shoes with non-slip soles and foamy material. However, people now wear Crocs everywhere! They have a work range of Crocs available meaning sometimes people are wearing them for the whole day at work (think: nurses in hospitals or chefs in restaurants), going walking around shopping centres, or even longer fitness walks during the day.

They aren’t designed to cope with walking or sporting activities for extended periods, and as such, you should consider getting proper footwear if that is your intention.

What's your thoughts on the Croc? Do you love them or hate them?
