We're sharing a small change to our Thursday Night Yoga Classes.

A huge thank you to Karli for the energy, care and presence she's brought to these classes. Her warmth and passion have been such a beautiful part of our Thursday nights and we're so grateful for everything she's shared in the studio ❤️

We're also excited to welcome Amanda to another night in the studio. Amanda will be guiding Thursday Evenings moving forward, bringing her fire, grounding and calm energy to close out your day.

Why a straight spine is key in Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana) 🐶✨

One of the biggest safety cues in Downward Dog is lengthen your spine — and here’s why it matters:

🔹 Protects your lower back
A rounded spine shifts weight into the lumbar area, which can compress and strain the lower back. Keeping the spine long distributes load evenly along the whole back body.

🔹 Supports shoulder stability
When your spine is straight, your ribs knit in, your core engages, and your shoulder blades glide down and wide — creating space instead of collapsing into the shoulders.

🔹 Encourages true hamstring lengthening
Bending the knees slightly to straighten the spine actually helps you stretch your hamstrings safely. Chasing straight legs too soon usually leads to rounding — which means your back ends up doing the stretching instead of your legs.

🔹 Aligns breath + posture
A long spine = more room for your breath to move. Breath supports your pose, your nervous system, and your focus. It’s all connected. 💛

✨ So remember: bend your knees → press the floor away → lift your hips → lengthen the spine first.

Straight legs are optional. A long spine is non-negotiable. 😉
