When a parent says,
"My child cut me off,"
"They won’t talk to me,"
"They won’t let me see the grandkids,"
Don’t just offer sympathy. Ask the hard question:
What did you do to make your child feel safer without you?
Children don’t distance themselves for no reason.
They leave to protect their peace;
After trying.
After explaining.
After crying.
After begging to be heard.
What did you do to make your absence easier than your presence?
What words or actions finally pushed them away for good?
How much hurt did you cause before they chose space over suffering?
A child doesn’t walk away first.
They only leave when they’ve already been gone,
Emotionally. Repeatedly.
Remember that.
