Winter Sports & Uneven Performance: Is It More Than Just Coordination?

If you or your child consistently favor one side, struggle with balance, or show uneven strength during winter training - don’t just chalk it up to the cold or the off-season. These could be early signs of scoliosis.

Even in cooler weather and layered uniforms, the body tells a story. Pay attention to posture, movement, and performance. Early detection is key.

Start with a quick, visual check using an online scoliosis screening app: app.scoliscreen.com or contact us for an in-clinic spinal screening on 07 5500 6311.

Winter pain - it’s not always just the cold.

As temperatures drop, back pain, stiffness, or changes in posture can become more noticeable. While it’s easy to brush it off as a seasonal ache, these signs might point to something deeper - like scoliosis.

Don’t put off unusual signs until the warmer weather returns, early detection makes a difference.

June is Scoliosis Awareness Month, a timely reminder to check in on spine health for the whole family.

Book a scoliosis check with us - contact Gold Coast Scoliosis Clinic today on 07 5500 6311. We are located in Runaway Bay.

Winter may bring layers, slower days, and weekend sports - but it’s also when signs of scoliosis in kids and teens can be easy to miss.

Heavy clothes can hide what summer reveals, so keep an eye out during winter sports and downtime.

Watch for signs like uneven shoulders, leaning to one side, or stiffness after sports. These could be subtle signs of scoliosis. Early detection is key - even in the colder months!

If you notice anything, don’t wait. Get it checked today. Contact us.

Monitoring scoliosis during growth spurts is crucial, especially between ages 11-13 for girls and 13-15 for boys, when rapid spinal growth increases the risk of it worsening.

Regular check-ups every three months and X-rays every six months are essential for tracking changes in spine curvature.

Early detection allows for timely intervention, preventing complications.

Keeping up with these check-ups and monitoring your child’s spinal health can lead to better outcomes and effective management of scoliosis.

Welcome to Gold Coast Scoliosis Clinic

Gold Coast Scoliosis Clinic was established after identifying the need for a clinic on the Gold Coast dedicated to the non-surgical management of scoliosis. Our aim is to provide you with a single location to cater for all your scoliosis needs in a warm and caring environment. We are able to assist you through all stages of your scoliosis journey, from scoliosis screenings and detection, to scoliosis assessment and x-ray reviews, to scoliosis specific exercise programs, and in some cases scoliosis bracing if indicated.

We are a ScoliCare afilliate clinic and work closely with the Sydney Scoliosis Clinic. We pride ourselves in providing the latest 3D technology in scoliosis scanning and bracing whilst following the internationally recognised Society on Scoliosis Orthopaedic and Rehabilitation Treatment (SOSORT) guidelines for the conservative management of scoliosis.

We provide you with all the information and support that you require to make your journey as stress free as possible. We service the entire Gold coast; Ipswich to Nerang to Coolangatta and northern NSW.
