It's been a long time since I have attended an awards event. In fact, it is a long time between all social engagements.
You all know that over the last six months other more pressing things have taken priority.

Although I have not attended award events, myself and Harvesting Health have been very richly rewarded over the past six months -
* I won Gold at for Woman of the Year in May.
* I won Bronze at 2025 for being a tenacious business woman.
* Last year Harvesting Health won the award for Alternate Therapies at the Australian Small Business Champion Awards

And on Friday I am a finalist in two awards -
One at the Australian Ladies in Business Initiative in Sydney. And the other locally at Mermaid - The Inspire Awards. The best part about this one is that a Judge from one of the others nominated our business!
This one I can manage to glam up and attend!

Wish me luck as I step out into society again! Tomorrow I wear the dress I bought for the awards in May....... stay tuned

How did we help this lady with her period?

Well, yes of course, we supported her hormonal health but not just oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone - we also supported all the other hormones in her body.

Hormones are interesting like that - it is not simply about oestrogen. So many medical programs just focus on s*x hormones, rather than all the important hormones in the background that actually 'make' the s*x hormones.
It is a bit like saying the actors on the stage are responsible for the movie and forgetting the person who wrote the script and of course the director who directs all that happens behind the scenes!

If you are after a quick fix (with a hell of a lot of side effects) then definitely jump on the oestrogen train, but you will be on it forever. Why? because all our hormones work on whats called a 'feedback loop'. When the hormone becomes diminished, the body gets the director to send out for help. If you supplement, then the director loses his job and when you stop supplementing there is no one to manage things. This sounds distinctly like a 'cash cow' to me. A constant stream of revenue.

A naturopath however, nurtures the director so that the job gets done.

HERBAL MEDICINE
Lately I am so pleased that I have when clients come to visit.

What a wonderful addition to the counselling session - being able to provide herbal remedies to support a client's mental health!

Clients who don't want to take harmful pharmaceuticals that can be so difficult to give up, can instead, have a herbal tincture or formulated natural product to see them through the times of troubles and anxiety, BUT they can come off it as soon as the world is right again.

Adding in Leone's nutrition degree and it is a perfect trifecta to manage your mental health. Our first medicine being food, the second being herbal medicine and then top it all off with some helpful skills to support sleep, mood, and motivation.

This picture is of LICORICE ROOT - some people are having sleep teas with licorice root - however I never prescribe licorice at night due to its energising qualities.

Better go check out that night time tea and its ingredients!

✨ The Art of Doing Nothing ✨

In a world that glorifies busyness, rest has become a radical act.
But what if the most productive thing you could do… was nothing at all?

The art of doing nothing isn’t about laziness — it’s about presence.
It’s giving your mind space to breathe, your body time to repair, and your spirit room to speak. When we stop “doing,” we start feeling — reconnecting with ourselves, our intuition, and the rhythm of life that’s so easily drowned out by noise and obligation.

🕯️ Sit in stillness.
🌿 Let your mind wander.
☀️ Watch the clouds drift or listen to your breath.

This is where balance begins.
This is where healing happens
Sometimes nothing is necessary to progress

Because sometimes, doing nothing is exactly what your health — and your heart — truly needs. 💛

🌿 Why Wait? 🌿

As we head into Christmas, I know many people put their health on hold — saying “I’ll start after the holidays,” or “I’ll deal with it next year.”

But truthfully… none of us know what’s around the corner.

Just five months ago, my David was hiking in New Zealand — strong, fit, full of life. A couple of dizzy spells later, we thought it was something simple. Within a month, he was bedridden. For four and a half months, we cared for him until he passed away almost weeks ago.

From the fittest man to the weakest — and then gone.

I share this not for sympathy, but as a reminder: life changes in an instant.
Your health, your energy, your time — these are precious gifts, not guarantees.

So I ask again… why wait?
Don’t wait for the “right time,” the “new year,” or the “perfect circumstances.”
Start now. Nurture your body. Support your mind. Invest in your vitality — because tomorrow is promised to no one.

If you’ve been thinking about making a change, I’m here to help you take that first step. 🌱
Let’s make this season one of presence, purpose, and prevention — not procrastination.

🌿 What Is Ayurveda — and How Can It Complement Your Health? 🌿

Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest healing systems — a timeless wisdom that originated in India over 5,000 years ago. The word Ayurveda translates to “the science of life,” and that’s exactly what it is: a holistic approach to health that sees the body, mind, and spirit as deeply interconnected.

Rather than focusing on symptoms, Ayurveda aims to uncover the root cause of imbalance. It helps us understand our unique constitution (known as our dosha) and guides us to restore harmony through food, lifestyle, herbs, and daily rituals.

What makes Ayurveda so beautiful is that it’s not about restriction — it’s about balance. It reminds us that what we eat, how we move, how we think, and even how we breathe all influence our wellbeing.

In practice, Ayurveda can:
✨ Improve digestion and metabolism
✨ Support hormone and nervous system balance
✨ Enhance energy, clarity, and sleep
✨ Build resilience to stress and disease
✨ Complement other forms of natural or conventional care

At Harvesting Health, we will be integrating Ayurvedic principles with modern naturopathic care — because true healing often happens when ancient wisdom meets modern understanding.

Your body is always seeking balance — Ayurveda simply helps guide it home. 💚

🔥 Menopause is not a curse, but a passage to power. 🔥

For too long, menopause has been whispered about as something to dread — a loss, a decline, an ending. But in truth, it’s a transformation.

This is the season where your body asks you to slow down, to listen, and to honour what it needs. The constant giving to others begins to turn inward — and in that shift, something remarkable happens. You rediscover your own strength.

Menopause invites you to reclaim your energy, your boundaries, your voice, and your wisdom. It’s a biological transition, yes — but also an emotional and spiritual awakening.

When we support the body through nourishment, balance, and rest, and when we honour this phase instead of fighting it — it becomes less of a struggle and more of a return to power.

✨ This isn’t the end of youth; it’s the beginning of embodiment. The next chapter of womanhood is fierce, free, and unapologetically wise.

Did anyone notice that Dame Patricia Routledge just died? At the ripe old age of 96.

This wonderful woman explored new challenges throughout her life -
At 60 she began learning Italian
At 70 she returned to Shakespearean theatre
At 80 she discovered watercolour painting
and at 95 she began baking her own rye bread

"Growing older is not a final act - it can be life's most exquisite chapter if you allow yourself to bloom once more."

Although the medical narrative seems to be that menopause is something to be repaired or challenged, perhaps it is necessary to see this as a newfound freedom beyond being pleasing to the male eyes and rather to step into an 'exquisite chapter where you bloom'.

"Let the years ahead be your treasure years. You don't have to be perfect, famous or adored. You only need to be present - fully - for the life that's yours"

Patricia Routledge
(Mrs Bucket - a fave of David)

🌿 It’s Not Just About Oestrogen 🌿

When we think of menopause, we often zero in on oestrogen and progesterone — but the truth is, your entire endocrine system plays a role in how smoothly (or not) you move through this transition.

Your thyroid, adrenals, pancreas, and even your gut hormones are all part of an intricate hormonal symphony that influences energy, mood, metabolism, and temperature regulation. When one instrument is out of tune, the whole orchestra feels it.

That’s why supporting menopausal health isn’t just about balancing s*x hormones — it’s about nurturing your whole hormonal network. Stress, blood sugar swings, poor sleep, and nutrient deficiencies can all tip the scales and amplify symptoms like hot flushes, weight changes, fatigue, and anxiety.

A naturopathic approach works to restore this delicate balance — calming the adrenals, supporting thyroid health, improving insulin sensitivity, and helping your body communicate more effectively across all its hormonal pathways.

✨ Because harmony — not just hormone replacement — is the key to feeling like you again.

OCTOBER IS MENOPAUSE MONTH
The Myth of Menopause
“We need to replace the oestrogen for our mental health”.

Well, I am here to tell you I am one of many women who never took HRT and are feeling strong both physically and emotionally. So that is total BS!
Also, I am seeing far too many women in clinical practice that are prescribed oestrogen gel even though they are still having a regular period.

SO HERE ARE SOME STARK FACTS –
Supplementing oestrogen to a menstruating woman can cause her uterine lining to thicken because oestrogen stimulates the growth and proliferation of the uterine lining. A thickened uterine lining (endometrial hyperplasia) is caused by excessive estrogen without enough progesterone to balance it, leading to abnormal cell overgrowth. Symptoms often include heavy and abnormal periods with potential risks including the development of uterine cancer.

Doctors often recommend continuous combined HRT if you are post-menopause (you have not had a period for 1 year or more). It is not suitable if you have menopause symptoms but are still having periods (perimenopause), or within 12 months of your last period, because it may cause irregular bleeding. This is because the body knows that a thickened uterine lining is dangerous. It will ensure it is shed by bleeding more often.

For the woman who IS ACTUALLY menopausal –
The adrenal glands provide a precursor hormone, DHEA, which is converted into estrogen (primarily oestrone) by an enzyme called aromatase in fatty tissue after menopause. While the ovaries no longer produce significant amounts of estrogen, the adrenal glands continue to produce these androgens, and this conversion allows the body to maintain smaller levels of estrogen. the adrenals then become the primary producers of DHEA-S, testosterone, estrogen, and a small amount of progesterone.

If you don’t want to run the risks of HRT, then a naturopathic approach can certainly help you.
Just like it helped me!
