Gotcha! No this is not a naturopathic requirement - swallowing a frog!

However, this was the exact words that came out of my client's mouth on Thursday.
"I guess I just have to swallow the frog and stop kicking the can"

She was talking about how she feels inadequate, keeps herself awake at night worrying about the 'things' she hasn't done.

Business can be just like this -
we push the hard things back and revel in getting all the quick easier goals over the line. We literally 'kick the can to the side' but then worry that we did exactly that!

Ever Feel You Have Been Given The Medical Run Around?

Most clients I see come to clinic complaining of exactly this! They have been to doctors (often plenty) and come away with no answers, often being told -
"it's all in your head"
"your results are within range"
"it's just your hormones"

Firstly, it may be in your head - because only you know how you used to feel.
Secondly, if your results are in range - remember that only sick people go to the doctor and therefore that range represents sick people. Ooops.....
Thirdly - not everything is hormonal simply because you have a uterus - this is a poor excuse for not wanting to look further

No wonder you come to clinic exasperated, disappointed and confused.

At the local medical centre, clients have been told they have a SIX MINUTE appt with the doctor. I don't know how a medical professional can successfully understand your concerns, ask relevant questions and explain what's going on in six minutes. Do you?

Another thing I am seeing in clinic is clients who have been prescribed medicines 30 years ago and still on them! Uh oh, that is not supporting your body - that is changing how it works. Not kosha! Not useful - but that is a post for another day

Everyone has heard this saying, but so few actually get it!

I speak to people every day who are fatigued, have a low mood and poor sleep.
Particularly women - and they might have irregular or erratic periods.

The first port of call is food. Why?
Most women are scared of food, especially protein and fats.

Protein and fats are the two most important nutrients for -
a better mood
improved sleep
a good libido
regular menstrual cycle
conception and pregnancy
and - energy

Yet so many women become grumpy, tired and wired
Then I ask them what they are eating and it is all salads, and grains - ALL SUGAR with no OOMPH!

Don't get me wrong - I used to do this too. I also used to have difficulty sleeping, suffer fatigue and likely pretty moody..........
I actually remember a guy I worked for telling me I needed "a good steak" -
and he was totally correct!

Protein and fat are the easiest 'medicines' you can get your hands on - and you should be having plenty of it.
Look to make your plate half and half - half protein and half veggies
Drizzle butter or ghee on cooked veggies
Add flaxseed oil to smoothies, oats or yoghurt

Otherwise you run the risk of being underweight, underfed and unhappy.
Be honest — are you eating enough protein each day, or are you living on salads and wondering why you're exhausted? I see this all the time in clinic.

Sunday Reset | Guided Meditation at Harvesting Health

As the weekend draws to a close, many people feel the quiet weight of the week ahead.

A racing mind.
Tight shoulders.
A nervous system that has not quite switched off.

Beginning soon at Harvesting Health, we will be offering a gentle Sunday evening guided meditation session designed to help you slow down, settle your nervous system, and step into the new week feeling calmer and more grounded.

These sessions will be guided by Lola, a local psychologist with a strong interest in somatic healing, who has experience facilitating healing meditation and sound-based relaxation practices. Her approach gently supports the mind and body to reconnect, release tension, and move toward a calmer, more regulated state.

This one-hour session will guide you through simple breathwork and meditation practices that support relaxation, emotional balance, and nervous system regulation.

No experience is needed — just bring yourself and a willingness to pause.

Time: Sundays | 5:00 – 6:00 pm
Location: Harvesting Health Clinic
Investment: $25 per session

Spaces will be limited to keep the group comfortable and supportive.

Most people don't realise they have been led astray when it comes to food and diet

Simplest tips for better health?

ADD IN MORE -
sea salt
fat - olive oil, coconut oil, flaxseed, ghee, butter
meat and other proteins

REDUCE -
your salad consumption - raw is NOT better. green leafies can be problematic
grains, pasta, rice
obviously sugar and fruit is a maximum of 2 pieces a day

** cook your veggies
** but don't make them 3/4 of your plate
** your protein is equally important, as is your fats
** add sea salt liberally
** add liquid fats to every meal

Last night I sat amongst a room full of women achieving amazing things

Most had overcome adversity
All of us were turning that adversity around -
Creating supportive programs, opportunities and offerings to ‘hold’ women and children who had been forced into situations they had never anticipated and were often unprepared for

We all had a story and many were peppered with hardship, trauma and loss
Yet the women in this room had managed to turn adversity into their super power and they truly shone bright

It was a privilege to be selected to sit amongst them

How fitting that this too was International Women’s Day!

Tonight I have the honour of attending the Heart of Women Awards as a finalist in three categories — Big Idea, Podcast of the Year and Entrepreneur of the Year. I’m deeply grateful to simply be in the room among women doing extraordinary work.

But before the evening begins, I want to take a moment to acknowledge the powerful work of Agape Outreach and its founder Therese Mitchell.

Agape Outreach is an Australian charity dedicated to preventing human trafficking and exploitation through education, advocacy, and on-the-ground outreach. Their work focuses particularly on protecting vulnerable young people and raising awareness about grooming, coercion, and exploitation — issues that too often remain hidden in plain sight.

Low iron isn’t always about iron intake. Sometimes the real problem is happening in the stomach.

This guy - your stomach
Has stomach acid for a reason -
to help digest and absorb your food, your minerals, your vitamins
Minerals require a good strong acidic environment to be absorbed
Your gut microbiome also enjoys a good strong acidic environment

If you are supplementing with bicarbonate of soda - you are alkalising your stomach
If you are using Nexium or Somac - you are alkalising your stomach
Your stomach should be acidic - that is healthy. Your stomach pH should be between 1.5-3.5 for your body to be healthy.

Please don't think that by 'alkalising' your stomach you are being healthy.
This is not a true fact

An alkaline stomach environment -
creates dysbiosis
allows candida and H pylori to flourish
kills off the good gut bacteria
stops you absorbing all the good things in your food like necessary minerals

Here is a story I hear a lot -
Client is given Nexium or Sozol to reduce stomach acid - becomes iron deplete - given an iron infusion - H pylori detected.
In this instance giving an iron infusion or supplements actually encourages H pylori

Nexium or Sozol is only meant to be given for a maximum of 10 weeks - NOT ANY LONGER due to the ill effects on health.
