Wednesday, 10th September marks World Su***de Prevention Day.
First established in 2003 in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), this day—and the month surrounding it—aims to change public attitudes, break the stigma associated with su***de, and offer hope. It's also a time to share important resources with those affected by su***de. With the right support and timely intervention, many su***des can be prevented. We are happy to welcome Dr Mohamed Shalan (Dr Mo) to HTDNS! He completed his medical degree in Egypt in 2011 and worked in Emergency Departments in Egypt. He moved to Australia in 2017 and has been working in Emergency Departments in rural Australia. Dr Mo has decided to transition from Emergency Medicine to General Practice to help people maintain their health and quality of life. He has a special interest in emergency medicine, complex wound management, foreign body removal, mental health, men's health and paediatrics. He will be available Mondays from 8am-12:30pm and Saturdays 9am-2pm with a view to adding more hours in the near future. Harbourtown Day/Night Surgery will be closed for renovations from the 8th July to the 16th July. For any scripts or urgent results/ matters you can make an appointment and register with Harbourtown Doctors here at Harbourtown Premium Outlets, located next to the Fruit Barn or call them on 07 5222 7117. Please ask their reception desk to have your results sent to them.

For Methadone, Suboxone or Subutex scripts or dosing please visit your nearest hospital.

For after-hours care, please call the National Home Doctor on 13SICK (137425) or the Hello Home Doctor Service on 134-100.
For any emergencies, please call 000 or present to your nearest
Emergency Department.

From July 1, 2025, women experiencing premature ovarian insufficiency, early menopause, perimenopause, or menopause symptoms, or undergoing treatment for these, will be eligible for a new health assessment which will be bulk-billed for patients with a current Medicare card.
