Palm Beach Aquatic Centre is finally open and the Hydrotherapy pool is excellent. Lisa is at Burleigh all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and also Thursdays afternoons. Flávio is at Burleigh Thursday mornings and Palm Beach on Mondays. Deb also goes to Southport pool on alternate Tuesdays. So we have you covered 😄

🌱 Most of the people are familiar with the Feldenkrais Method through the “Awareness through movement” classes in which the teacher guides the students through different movements that are usually slow, gentle, focusing on the somatic feedback, rather than the external aesthetics. But there is this whole other world within the Feldenkrais Method that is called “Functional Integration”.

🌿 And what is Functional Integration?
The use of non-invasive, gentle touch as the primary means of communication between the practitioner and the person. It is usually performed at a slow pace on a massage table and lasts more or less 60 minutes. The intention of the practitioner is to help the person re-integrate parts of itself that might have been forgotten for different reasons: injuries, accidents, trauma, difficult experiences, chronic pain. The hands of the practitioner suggest other possible pathways for habitual movement patterns that might not be serving the person anymore. The approach is flexible and the focus goes to what the person needs.

Well the big news is that Aqua-Moves will be using the pool again at Club Active in Burleigh Heads 3 days a week starting July 8th. Great to be back in a low chlorine heated pool!

What an amazing 2 weeks in South Africa. The SA Physiotherapy Society invited Toni and I to teach their Aquatic Physios our approach in water. We did 4 days of teaching which included treating clients with their physios on the last day. There were quite a few children and Toni was on fire. She absolutely shone. They loved it and the feedback was amazing. Incredibly satisfying after 23 years of working together. We then did a four day Safari in Kruger National Park which was also incredible. Here are a few photos.
