What a fantastic day, I love that Mark was so enthusiastic and enjoyed his fishing experience. We started under the Sundale bridge then moved to the Spit after an hour. The seaway is such a beautiful place and catching fish was a bonus. It was amazing comparing our fishing pics and vids from Canada and even more fascinating that we were there almost at the same time and fairly close to each other. Total for the day, one Flathead, one Snapper, one very small flounder and 17 bream. (All safely released)

Was such a pleasure to meet Mahe and Tim at the Spit. Got to chat with them and showed them a few bit’s and pieces and Tim landed this lovely 33cm Squire (Snapper) and about 12 bream.
True story; they even brought me two boxes of Pepsi Max “Winning lol”

Nick booked a session for himself and son Tim and talk about excitement personified. Coming to the Coast on holiday, Tim went fishing 3 days in a row 👎 no luck 🤦🏻‍♂️. We met at the Spit and within 3 minutes (first cast) he landed a 34cm Bream, his first ever fish 🎣👍. Tim was an incredibly fast learner, blew me away. Before long he had another 12 bream, a Whiting, and his very first Tailor and boy was he happy. So happy they’ve booked me again lol
Looking forward to our next session for sure.

Sorry but only the one pic of Hendrix today after landing this juvenile Jewie. A quick pic then quickly and safely released. He also landed 7 Bream and a massive Stingray that we walked to the beach, removed the hook and it too was safely released. Was a great day

I met up with Martin and Breda at the Currumbin river mouth on Tuesday mornng and was a stunning setting for early morning fishing. This lovely couple are from Rotorua, yep, my homeland New Zealand. Martin has a brand new rod at home gathering dust that he wants to use when he heads back so we got straight into it. We had the best catch up ever, a fun couple who were massively committed to the learning process. The learning curve was quite steep but again, by the time we finished up they were killing it, casting, setting their hooks, correct retrieval (in swift current) and of course landing their fish. Funny fact: With earlier fish caught I would safely remove them from the hook and toss them back into the set. With every fish Breda caught she would apologise to each one for hurting it, caefully remove the hook, cradle it to the surf and gently release it into the surf. Ummm, Ok then 😳😂. Lots of bream caught, three decent sized Whiting and a flathead. A fantastic morning with a lovely and very grateful couple.

The man and his fam from Mt Isa 😂😂
Dad Albert, with sons Alby, George and Jack. Ex Mt Isa, now up in Brisbane and today fishing with me here on the Goldy. The boys enthusiasm was truly off the charts, they each had rods ready to go but sadly, some tweaking was required. In no time at all they were all on the bite and thoroughly enjoyed their experience. Super respectful and grateful boys who soaked up as much as I was able to share with them during our booking. Biggest bonus though was that dad was ALL IN, supporting and staying invested in their fun and learning. 👍👍🎣🎣🎣

This was a session was at the Currumbin river mouth with dad Jack and son Barry and what an experience. It was definitely a first for me. They were visiting from China (Another Air bnb booking) and apart from a few words, our entire communication was on dads translation app. Was odd at the start of but ended up being easy and fun. We were “on the bite” from our first cast and ended up with a haul of 23 fish.

Honest to goodness, taking Sara fishing was an absolute pleasure. She’s from Spain, lives in Melbourne and is holidaying here on the Coast. She booked my experience through my Air BnB page and from the minute we met we started chatting and never stopped 😂. I genuinely love seeing the thrill on people’s faces after hooking up and landing their first fish and shel was so happy. We ended up catching 15 Bream and for a change more than one or two were well over legal. All released safely though. See you next time when you and your partner are here

Say hi to Claire, we had such a good time, her “Irishness” was both upbeat and funny as. Her casting technique was outer worldly but we got that sorted, and seriously, what a fast learner. Within half an hour she doubled then tripled her casting distance, but more importantly her accuracy was impressive. Sorry, only the one pic. I am so old lol, she was using I think instagram, pics and live vids, and her friends were watching and replying in real time. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️
Looking forward to the next booking with one or two of her friends.

Long overdue, sorry.
I had the most amazing experience in Canada, landed in Vancouver then on to Haida Gwaii where our dear friends Dan and Nadine picked us up and we were straight off the plane and straight onto the boat. Loved the incredible scenery, wildlife, people and culture, food, history, of course the 8-9 hours on the water every day, and most of all the love and friendship of Dan, Nadine and their sons Levi and Reece. Here are a few pics, hope you enjoy.
