Attachment pulls us out of the present moment, keeping us caught between what’s already happened and what we wish would happen next.

We cling to ideas, expectations, or old stories…and in doing so, the body tightens, the mind becomes heavy and we lose touch with what’s actually here ~ what is real and true.

Attachment also struggles with change, which can make life feel difficult given that things are always changing ~ especially in the world right now.

Letting go doesn’t mean pushing anything away or giving up, it’s about turning inward to meet what’s here, even the discomfort.

Feeling, allowing, noticing, without needing to fix or escape. Loosening our grip enough to release the unnecessary tension and worry that holding on creates.

When we stop fighting what we feel, something softens and we create a little more internal space. And with that space we’re able to see things more clearly, encountering the moment just as it is. Encountering ourselves just as we are.

Freedom comes from letting go and yoga is the perfect training ground for learning to let go. Join me on the mat tomorrow (Friday) 6.30am for community yoga at Tugun.

$20 per class (first class free for new students)

This class is suitable for all levels, you don’t have to be good at yoga…just a willingness to explore, breathe and be with yourself.

When we’re in our body and feeling, we’re more fully alive. There’s a sense of connection to ourselves, others, and the whole cosmos.

We also have access joy, love, and presence.

But when something overwhelming happens, our body steps in to protect us, shifting us out of feeling as a way to keep us safe. This is actually really beautiful and often necessary.

Over time though, this protective numbness can leave us feeling disconnected from sensation, emotion and life itself.

What can be helpful in coming back is to gently create safety in the body first.

Regulating, grounding and embodied practices like yoga and qigong can support this process by helping the nervous system to settle and come back to the present.

From there, we can slowly expand our capacity to feel again, dipping a toe back into the sea of sensation, rather than rushing in.

It’s all about taking small, tolerable steps toward feeling again.

As a somatic psychotherapist and trauma informed yoga teacher, working with feeling is my wheelhouse.

If you’d like support in coming back into your body and reconnecting with feeling more deeply again, I’m currently taking on new clients.

I finally wrote something that I’ve been sitting with for a while about staying in a marriage for 21 years, ambivalence, and how finally made the decision to leave. If you’ve ever felt stuck between staying and going, this might resonate.

You can read it on my substack (link in bio).

This is a bit of a personal share for my fellow perimenopausal women.

I work with a lot of women in this season, and it’s something I’ve also moved through myself. I’m 43 now and honestly feel better than ever, so I wanted to share what’s helped me.

I also have Hashimoto’s and was diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis at 40, which at the time felt debilitating. Medication helped a little, but the side effects were hard, so I was very motivated to find another way.

A few of the things that have made the biggest difference:

🌿 Supporting my body with HRT (I know it can be controversial, but for me it’s been life changing…especially with ADHD, where hormonal shifts really impact dopamine, mood and focus)

Reducing alcohol and staying present with life instead of numbing it

Prioritising sleep and true rest

Nourishing my body with anti-inflammatory food

Regulating my nervous system and tracking my HRV to understand what actually restores me

Doing deep inner work and reconnecting with the parts of me that needed attention

Choosing work that feels purposeful and lights me up

Learning to really listen to my body ~ honouring both my NO and my YES ❤️

Strength training for both physical and mental resilience

Making my life beautiful and embodied ~ doing things that I love everyday

Exploring supportive therapies like acupuncture and stem cells

Using targeted support like (liquid curcumin) for inflammation

Because of these changes, my RA is now in remission, and I genuinely feel more myself than I ever have.

I hope this helps anyone who needs it right now.

Sending love,
Naomi 🌻

The work isn’t to become the sun, it’s to notice the clouds and create enough space and safety inside so that the light can start to filter through.

This is what I support people with in my counselling and somatic work ~ learning how to gently part the clouds, regulate the nervous system, and build a kinder relationship with your protective parts so you can reconnect with the sunshine that’s innately within you.

I’m currently taking on new clients. If this resonates and you’re seeking support in coming home to yourself so you can live more fully and freely, please reach out or visit the link in my bio for more information. You’re also welcome to book an intro call to see if we’re a good fit ☀️

What you’re chasing in a partner, an adventure, a career, or a place isn’t actually the thing itself…it’s the feeling you believe it will give you.

Aliveness.
Love.
Fullness.
Joy.
Freedom.
Contentment.
A sense of worthiness.

But those feelings aren’t out there somewhere waiting for you to earn them, they’re available to you here, now, regardless of your external circumstances.

When you learn to access these things inside of yourself, you become sovereign ~ no longer reliant on another person or situation to feel ok.

Instead of chasing or trying to attract what you’re longing for, simply come back home to yourself, cultivate open hearted presence and trust from this place, love, freedom and contentment will naturally arise.

If this speaks to something in you,
and you’re ready to experience this kind of inner shift in your own life, I’d love to support you.

Send me a message or head to the link in my bio to learn more.

All the conditions required for deep peace, true happiness and freedom are right here within us ~ we have our body, our mind, and the whole wide beautiful world to engage with.

Thank you for reminding me that time spent in nature and our heart is always the answer ❤️

For many years I believed that if I just did all the right things, I would heal.

If I rolled out my mat every day to practice yoga, sat on my cushion to meditate, did the cold plunge, went on retreat, walked in nature, ate well, and read all the dharma and self help books… eventually everything inside me would fall into place.

And while these practices supported me in many ways, after more than a decade of this approach I found myself struggling internally more than ever. I was still stuck in the same old patterns and limiting core beliefs that kept me feeling small and held me back.

What I didn’t realise at the time was that I had fallen into the trap of spiritual bypassing.

Like many people on a healing path, I was unknowingly overlooking the younger, vulnerable and wounded parts of myself…the parts that felt unloved, invisible and not good enough. The parts that were calling for my attention.

It wasn’t until I began working with a therapist using Internal Family Systems (IFS) and started turning toward those parts with curiosity and compassion that things truly began to shift.

Through parts work, alongside all the supportive practices that helped regulate and reshape my nervous system, things started to shift in my life.

My Rheumatoid Arthritis went into remission.
I found the courage to leave my 21 year marriage.
I started my own business.
I bought my own home.
And most importantly, I began to accept, embrace and even love myself.

Having walked this path, I now feel deeply inspired to support others, particularly women, in gently turning toward the parts of themselves that are longing to be seen, heard and healed.

Because healing isn’t about becoming someone new…it’s about reconnecting with who you already are beneath it all.

If this resonates and you feel called to go deeper on the inward journey, I’d be honoured to support you. Please reach out for more info or visit the link in my bio to book a free intro call to see if we vibe.
