🔍🍎 "Decoding Nutrition Labels: Your Guide to Making Informed Choices" 🍎🔍

Nutrition labels can seem like a complex web of numbers and percentages. But, understanding them can unlock healthier food choices and make your nutrition journey a lot easier. Here are some key points to consider:

1️⃣ Serving Size: This is the first thing you'll see. It's important to know that all the nutritional information on the label is based on this amount. Compare it to how much you actually eat - it could be more or less!

2️⃣ Calories: This shows the amount of energy provided per serving. Keep in mind, not all calories are created equal! It's important to get your calories from nutrient-dense foods.

3️⃣ Nutrients to Limit: Fat, cholesterol, sodium and sugars are listed next. Try to limit these, especially saturated and trans fats, and added sugars.

4️⃣ Nutrients to Get More Of: Dietary fibre, vitamin D, calcium, iron, and potassium are nutrients that many people don't get enough of. Look for foods high in these nutrients.

5️⃣ % Daily Value (DV): This shows how much of each nutrient is in a single serving, in terms of the daily recommended amount. As a general guide, 5% DV or less is low, and 20% DV or more is high!

Remember, a food label gives you information to make healthy choices and balance your intake. It's a tool to help you meet your dietary goals.
