Have you ever wondered what its like to feel a complete sense of bliss, space in your head/mind, calmness within you for more than a moment, maybe hours or perhaps days? This calm state allows you to think more clearly, feel revitalised, the stress of your thoughts vanished, like every thing is going to be ok... Does this sound amazing!! Are you looking for a more holistic approach to massage?
I first experienced an Ayurvedic massage treatment while on holiday in Bali, then again in India... My thoughts 'OMG I need to share this with everyone, the world needs to feel how amazingly, intoxicating this treatment can be for the soul'. My whole being felt like I had been filled up with pure joy, happiness and love, I felt nurtured, held and healed!
I am a fully certified Ayurveda therapist, since 2017, in addition to living, breathing and studying the yogini path devoting myself to the practice of yoga for over 7 years.
Ayurvedic massage combines the 5,000-year-old Indian principles of Ayurveda - the science of life - and pressure points. This type of massage is designed to create balance among the mind, body, and spirit, and help the body heal itself.
Just as a machine needs to be oiled, the body loves to have its largest organ, the skin, soothed, which is why oils are used in an Ayurvedic massage as well as time-honoured and non-traditional strokes and kneading that suit your individual needs.
In Ayurveda, the five elements that are found in all living things - SPACE, AIR, FIRE, WATER, & EARTH - are considered the building blocks of life. These combine to create three mind-body principles, known as doshas, within the body: VATA (air and space), PITTA (fire and water), and KAPHA (water and earth). Everyone inherits a unique mix of the three doshas (Prakruti), although one is usually more dominant. Ayurvedic practices balance of the doshas to govern oneโs physical and emotional health.
During an Ayurvedic massage, organic oil blends are infused with Ayurvedic herbs and heated to promote relaxation and detoxification. The oils are chosen to balance your dominant dosha. At the right temperature, these oils enter the body through the skin and pores, bind to the ama (toxins), and are released to detoxify the body. Ayurvedic therapy focuses on clearing the energy channels in the body, moving and dislodging toxins, and balancing the chakras (energy centres).
Types of treatment I offer:
ABHYANGA (abee-yan-ga)
The most traditional Ayurvedic treatment, abhyanga is a full body massage using friction-based strokes and warm dosha-specific oils. As the oil is massaged into the skin, it penetrates the tissues to loosen toxins at a cellular level. This style of massage promotes circulation, boosts immune system function, and creates deep relaxation in the mind and body.
Extra BENEFITS - Heals Adrenal Fatigue | Rejuvenates the system, stimulates the internal organs of the body |
Drains Lymphs, aiding detoxification | Restores muscle tone | Increases blood flow | Balance the Doshas, pacifying Vata and Pitta and stimulates Kapha
SHIRODHARA (shiro-dar-a)
Shirodhara is a meditative and tranquil treatment centred on a soothing stream of warm oil thatโs gently poured over the forehead and onto the third eye chakra the energetic centre of intuition thatโs also known as ajna. The pressure of the oil onto the forehead creates a vibration, this gentle pressure and soothing warmth of the oil allow the body, mind and nervous system to experience a deep state of rest, similar to meditation. The term shirodhara is a union of two words. โShiroโ means head and โdharaโ means pouring in a stream. This treatment is also known to calm the central nervous system, relieve symptoms of anxiety, stress, fatigue and hypertension, regulates mood, Assist with PTSD, migraines, insomnia, paralysis, psoriasis, memory loss, aging and so much more.
Marma - Marma points are vital life or energy points among the body, mind, and emotions, we have 107 marma points in our body. During your massage specific marma points are pressurised using a light, continuous, pressing touch to stimulate these energy points. Accessing the Marma points during your massage awakens the bodyโs inner healing system, manipulates subtle energy or prana, relieves stiff muscles, and boosts circulation
Your Ayurveda massage treatment will begin with a consultation. Together, we will go through a short, completely confidential health and lifestyle consultation prior to your first treatment. This is designed to identify your needs and expectations and will allow me to adapt the Ayurveda massage treatment to suit you. This will take around 15 minutes, please allow this time for your first treatment..
Please bear in mind that you may feel very relaxed after the treatment, so you may want to plan your activities following the treatment to match this feeling.
