Gold Coast Hand Therapy We are a team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who specialise in hand injuries

We are a team of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists who specialise in treating finger, thumb, hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries and conditions. As Hand Therapy Specialists on the Gold Coast, we are highly experienced at assessing injuries, fabrication of custom-made thermoplastic splints or orthoses (an alternative to fibreglass casting), providing conservative treatments for injuries and conditions, as well as post-surgery and wound care. We work closely with many Hand and Orthopaedic Surgeons, hospitals including Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara, as well as a wide network of GPs. We treat patients that are privately funded or those under WorkCover, DVA, NDIS or other independent insurers. All our therapists are members of the the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA). An Accredited Hand Therapist has been recognised by the Australian Hand Therapy Association (AHTA) after years of clinical experience and further study after university. How cute is this custom thumb splint?

Out for a bushwalk in Margaret River, this patient suffered a fall, hyperextending and dislocating her thumb IP joint when landing on rocks in a gully. OUCH!

Constructed with care over 2 appointments, our Hand Therapist was able to work with the patient to develop this unique, dynamic design to aid with recovery.

🤔 POP vs Thermoplastic Splints, choosing the right splint can make all the difference.

Plaster of Paris (POP) casts are a tried-and-true option, great for those who need a secure, affordable choice, but they certainly have their flaws.

✨ Looking for something more flexible?
Thermoplastic splints are lightweight and water-resistant, making them ideal for active lifestyles, allowing for swimming and better hygiene + they can be remoulded for the perfect fit!

Whether you need a splint for yourself or your little one, consider your lifestyle and comfort needs. 🏃‍♂️💪

Who says splints have to be boring? Not this patient!

Taking style into their own hands, this lovely patient isn’t letting a supportive splint limit their creativity.

Taking ‘custom’ to the next level, we're loving the animal print design 🐯

Difficulty completing everyday tasks which require the use of your thumb, like tying shoelaces, turning a key or grasping objects is common among patients with a UCL injury.

A reminder that hand and upper limb conditions can impact us all. Typically, this patient looks after her own patients as a GP.

Presenting to GC with a reoccurring Ulnar Collateral Ligament (UCL) Injury, our team of hand therapists were able to provide a custom CMC splint to support the patient with their recovery.

🎄✨ Christmas in July on the Gold Coast?

While we're known for our sunny beaches, we're getting into the festive spirit this winter, our team traded their therapy tools for tinsel, proving they're just as skilled at spreading joy as they are at healing hands.

Your Injury • Your Outcome • Our Passion (and our party!) 🎉

Thank you to our growing team for a night to remember.

Don't worry, we're still here to help you sleigh through any hand or upper limb issues all year round 🦌❄️

Night time adventures just got a whole lot more supportive 🌙✨

Our skilled therapists have crafted this cosy set of night-time splints to help our youngest patients reach their early developmental goals.

It's amazing how a little overnight assistance can make such a big difference in a child's journey.

Here's to sweet dreams and growing stronger!

🚍 Supporting recovery in motion
This gentleman, a dedicated bus driver, is now 3 weeks post-injury after a fall.

🔹 Diagnosed with tenosynovitis of ECRL, ECRB, and EDC
🔹 Now pain-free in a custom splint designed to offload soft tissues
🔹 We’ve commenced:

• Pain-free active range of motion
• Isometric strengthening
• Planning light use out of splint

On track for a steady recovery and safe return to work. 👏 Well done Shanna

We’re excited to officially welcome Aiden to Gold Coast Hand Therapy!

Aiden joins us with a strong foundation in health and movement. His background includes treating a wide range of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, but it was during his time as an outpatient physio in South Australia that he found his passion for hand therapy.

🖐️ Fascinated by the intricacies of the upper limb and the life-changing impact of targeted rehab, Aiden now brings that passion (and plenty of skill) to our Gold Coast team. He’s all about tailored treatment, evidence-based practice, and helping patients get back to what matters, whether that’s work, sport, or a favourite weekend project.

🌊 Outside of the clinic, you’ll find Aiden hitting the gym, swimming in the ocean, or diving into his next woodworking project.
Fun fact: he’s travelled a full lap of Australia while working as a physio (jealous!) now he’s landed back home and we’re lucky to have him!

👏 Join us in giving Aiden a warm welcome and say hi if you see him around the clinic!

Presenting with a chronic left bicep contracture following Brachial plexus laceration and forearm fasciotomies, this patient required an alternative to a dynamic extension splint.

Jodie created a novel splint alternative, provided to use 3 points of force to exert adjustable pressure to apply an extension force to lengthen the bicep over time, using the low load, prolonged duration stretch principle for tissue lengthening.

Great work Jodie 👏
