“Does dairy cause acne?” is one of the most common questions I get — and the answer isn’t as black-and-white as the internet makes it sound.

For some women, dairy is totally fine.
For others, it’s a major trigger for breakouts, inflammation, bloating, or congestion — especially around the chin and jawline.

What actually matters is how your body handles it, and that comes down to things like:
• gut health + dysbiosis
• histamine intolerance
• the skin–gut–hormone axis
• insulin + blood sugar balance
• how well you break down fats
• your current inflammatory load
• stress + nervous system tone

When these areas are already under pressure, dairy can absolutely add fuel to the fire — and skin is often where it shows up first.
