73 per cent of young Australians who died by su***de experienced mental health difficulties before their death.

However, two-thirds of the su***de cases were not in contact with mental health services when they died.

This is very disheartening. Mental health support is still very much inaccessible for many Australians. We need to de better in supporting those who are struggling with mental health challenges.

You are struggling with eating disorder; you are not bulimic/aneroxic

You are struggling with alcohol addiction; you are not an alcoholic

You struggle to see the value in yourself; you are not useless

You are more than your struggle even when you have struggled with it your whole life.

I would love to see trauma centres in Australia (particularly Queensland) that focus on treating early psychological trauma in children. Early intervention is so important and critical to reducing violence, post traumatic stress disorder, substance misuse, mental health diagnosis and intergenerational trauma. Theres a need for greater exposure in Australia on the impact of psychological trauma in children and adults. Childhood trauma is a silent epidemic; yet many health professionals are not fully informed and trained in this area.

Texas Children's Hospital has a center focused on treating children's grief and trauma as early as possible in order to improve overall health.

Let's break the stigma of mental health and counselling. So many people didn't seek counselling because they are afraid of what others would think of them. I, myself have benefited greatly from personal therapy and there's no shame in that.

It takes a lot of strength and courage to be vulnerable to someone else. It is definitely not a weakness to seek therapy.

There's a saying in trauma work that 'slow is fast'. Healing and recovery is a process and sometimes you don't realise you are making progress as it feels like nothing big is happening.

Sometimes the progress seems small but I believe every progress is worth celebrating. This is especially true for trauma recovery.
